In this season of Advent, as we reflect on the experience of Mary, the mother of Jesus, we hear the stories of three women in our diocese who have been ordained in the past two years and who are also mothers to young children, juggling the demands of both ministry and parenthood. Be inspired and encouraged by their testimonies! Read more here: https://ow.ly/lLrk50Qgqw0
This evening, at Evening Prayer, Brother Alois handed over leadership of the Taize Community to Brother Matthew who is appoitned Prior of the Community. Our prayers with them both and the community at this time. At the beautiful service, two Anglican Bishops prayed alongside those from the Roman Catholic and Orthodox and Protestant churches. The Church of England's governing body - General Synod has been meeting and discussing the introduction of prayers for those in same-sex relationships. It's been a challenging few days for those from the LGBTQI+ community and we've been praying for them.
We're delighted that Synod voted in favour of introducing special services of prayer and dedication and asking for God’s blessing for same-sex couples (albeit on a trial basis).
This news is utterly appalling. That anyone in government considers homelessness/rough sleeping a 'lifestyle choice' is, in itself a deeply disturbing notion. To then be considering passing a law to restrict the use of tents (and likewise illegal for charities providing tents) by rough sleepers/homeless people is horrific.
We would encourage getting in touch with your local MP to challenge this proposal.
Suella Braverman says rough sleeping is ‘lifestyle choice’ Home secretary criticised for tweets vowing to restrict use of tents by homeless people, ‘many of them from abroad’
