8FR enjoyed a trip to Flavours school of cookery last week, thanks to Scarlett Scanlon who won the Spring design competition. The tutor group enjoyed making Arancini with Marcus and his team of chefs. We were very proud of their efforts and also want to say a huge well done to George for his fantastic runner-up entry in the competition. We advise you to check out Flavours summer school, for engaging and fun cookery classes. A big thank you to Marcus and his team for having us.
Year 10 Food prep students had a really informative and enlightening morning at ‘The Pig in the Forest’. They learnt about sustainability through business, the importance of reducing waste and also food provenance. They walked through the grounds learning about the way they preserve foods in order to feed guests sustainably. 82% of the hotels produce comes from the gardens. Students were able to pot plants, sample food in the kitchen garden and meet with the education team to talk about sustainability and responsibly sourced produce. We’d like to say a huge thank you to Lex, Kate and Oli at the Pig who made our morning one we will never forget. This is especially important for the students food exam next year.

Year 10 Food Preparation and Nutrition students challenged the staff to a Christmas bake off, before Christmas. Yr 10 vs staff bake off We would like to thank all the students and staff for their entries. Our top Year 10 bakers were Lyla and Alex. And our top staff bakers were Miss Willcocks, First Aid and Mrs Hutson, Science. Huge amounts of skill were shown by the staff and students alike. At this point it's a draw and everyone receives a prize! However, we look forward to challenging staff and students again at Easter!
And here it is, the St Peter’s Christmas Single 2022. We hope that you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed recording it. 24hrs of hard work, but worth it. https://youtu.be/K3J5CBINxc8
