🎈 🎈 ** GETTING SCHOOL READY ** 🎈 🎈
Another process ticked off the getting school ready list … bottom wiping practice! Today we used balloons to act as our bottom cheeks taped to the back of a chair to re in act the bottom wipe process. We took toilet roll from a roll, tore it off, folded it, and then used a swiping motion between the two balloons (aka butt cheeks!), and keep doing it until the paper is clean. The cherubs did really well, followed instruction well. The next step is to try it for real. We learnt not to use too much toilet roll, and to put it into the toilet when finished with. 👏🏼 wish me luck !!!!

As the sun is slowly starting to shine, we made our own sun catchers with pressed flowers. The cherubs enjoyed choosing their own items to stick to the sticky jar and then we hung them up in the window for people to see and catch the sunlight. They were very pretty and they were all proud of their creations ! 🌺 ☀️ 👏🏼

This week we had World Earth Day. 🌍 we talked about the world we live in, how it’s round, and it spins using a globe to demonstrate. We learnt our earth is made up of land and sea, and we need to look after it by not dropping rubbish, recycling, turning off electric items when not needed like our tv or computer, and turning off the tap inbwteeen doing our teeth to save water. We only get one world, and we need to look after it. We made our own world collages to take home to our Mummies and Daddies, and read a story about saving our planet 📕 🌎 ♻️

We had a wonderful time at the Oceanarium the other day! 🐠 All the cherubs loved wondering around looking and spying the fish and mammals. The favourite by far were the 🦦 otters, they made us laugh, and were keen to show off. We enjoyed seeing turtles, rays, crocodiles, penguins and even Nemo! Such a wonderful way to spend the morning, talking about what we saw, where we thought they would live, using new language and descriptive words, and seeing things we wouldn’t normally get to see. We went for a run around on the beach after in the sea air ! A fun day ! 🐟 🐊 🦦 🐧…..

Keeeping with our 🌍 📕 day theme of the Hungry Caterpillar we made our own little bugs out of kitchen roll coloured with sharpie and rolled around a stick to make a concertina. Each cherub then used a pipette with water to make the caterpillar grow big and we were able to watch the colours form when the water was added. Such a simple but lovely craft idea, and the children thought it was magic when they could see the colours coming through, we even named them too ! 🐛 🍃 🌙 🍎

📚 World Book Day 📚
Today we had a lovely time celebrating World book day at TLC. Each of the children were asked if they would like to dress up as their favourite book character or come in their pjs. I dressed as the Hungry caterpillar 🐛 🍎 🌙, and we had a tuff tray maiden with bits from the story.

We read stories everyday and sometimes listen to them on Alexa but today I invited the children to bring in their favourite books. We have enjoyed reading these throughout the day as a group and individually, everyone has loved showing off their book and talking about it 🥰
When we read the Hungry caterpillar story the children had to find the food from the table and feed it to the caterpillar. They loved doing this, spying it and feeding it with great interaction and teamwork. 🐛

Stories are such a wonderful resource for children, keep reading to them every night, no matter how you’re feeling they will love you for it ! Go on … Help build those minds! 😉 🌍 📕

Pancake day 2024 ! 🥞
What fun we had, mixing, pouring, tasting, squeezing, sieving, flipping and weighing using maths and language of size. We talked about what ingredients you need to make pancakes and I tested the cherubs later in the day to see if they remembered. We said about what toppings we would each choose ! Strawberries and chocolate was a firm favourite ! 🍓 🍫 🥞 We used old school weighing scales with weights to balance and talk about light and heavy things and used different sized pancakes to size sort. The cherubs used their fingers to draw in the flour some even chose to write letters from their names ! A super celebration for shrove Tuesday 🥞 ⚖️ 🍋

BCP Council NHS Dorset

🇨🇳 We have been celebrating the Chinese New Year at TLC with various different activities, including watching traditional dragon dancing and trying to dance like it ourselves, trying Chinese food, such as fortune, cookies, prawn, crackers, and noodles. We were using chopsticks to be able to pick up the food. We were able to touch and play with paper fans. We talked about how each year the animal changes for the celebration this year is the year of the dragon 🐉 We made some traditional Chinese lanterns and decorated them and we also filled little lucky Red envelopes with gold coins for the children to take home as a little treat. The gold coins are chocolate ! We have really enjoyed celebrating Chinese New Year, with some new experiences and learning about different cultures. 🇨🇳 🏮 🍜

When you get given a personalised Christmas present from one of the children, I love it so much ! Thank you 😊 you know who you are 💕

Today we made the most of this mornings sunshine and got out in the garden with a potions table 🧪 with red Jelly, pumpkin flesh and seeds, rose petals, Halloween pasta, leaves and spiders, eyeballs, teeth and skulls! Using fine motor skills, hand eye coordination, senses and imaginations. The children loved mixing, scooping, touching, smelling, and generally just making a big mess !!!! But they loved it, one child even said “Tina this is amazing” ! Love it when all the efforts worthwhile ! 🕷️ 🕸️ 🎃 💀

We also this morning went early to Upton country park for the Halloween trail, where we took part in finding letters and Halloween displays around the park. The cherubs loved finding each station decorated with different Halloween themes. Lovely to enjoy the sunshine and fresh air too, a spook-tacular morning !!! 🎃 👻 🧙‍♀️ 🕷️ 🕸️

We have had a fabulous day today at TLC we went to Southern Aquatics for a fun day, and had the opportunity to touch a baby parrot 🦜 hold a bearded dragon 🐉 and stroke him and touch and feel a snake 🐍 . The cherubs had a wonderful time learning new words and overcoming feelings of nervousness and using their senses to gain new experiences. Such fun hands on learning. We talked about how each reptile felt with their fingers, what their skin looked like and much much more ! An amazing morning ! 💕 🐍 🦜
