Well what a varied and busy Carolling programme we have had this year. We’ve been able to share the Christmas message at local Care Homes, community events, Rotary fundraisers, Christmas lunches, Carols in a school playground, town centre shoppers and a children’s respite centre as well as the Advent services at our own Winton Salvation Army.
“Joy to the World the Lord is Come”
We wish the community of Winton and Bournemouth and all our friends and supporters a very Happy Christmas. With grateful thanks to our Congregation, Volunteers, Local Officers, and Staff for all they do to keep the doors open and enable people to feel cared for and supported. Happy Christmas everyone
Some of our band are out caroling in Winton high street this morning. If you see us, come and say hello 😊🎅🏽
We had a surprise visit this afternoon 🎄….guess who?! 😂
We have been so blessed by our supporters who have donated us so many gifts of clothes, knitwear, coats, shoes, sleeping bags and toiletries. We were able to distribute these at our homeless Christmas dinner tonight and our guests were so thankful for people's love and kindness. We also thank all our volunteers (tonights team pictured) who give their time every Monday evening throughout the year. We could not do what we do without our wonderful volunteers. Thank you
Don't miss out!

The 'Activate' group enjoyed their Christmas outing and Dinner at Branksome Corps today
‘Carols for the People’ at Winton was a tremendous experience. With all the corps music sections and children from St Walburgar’s School, vocal solos from Fiona Armstrong, and special guest compares, Majors John and Anne Read (Former Corps Officers), a capacity filled hall and lots of fine carol singing, the afternoon was packed with joyous celebration that culminated in a magnificent finale
This morning, we enjoyed our morning meeting led by Major Jean McDevitte based around the theme of journeys. We were equally blessed to have one of our young people, Caitlin, share her talents and create this fantastic piece of artwork as the meeting was taking place 👣 A great morning getting to witness our congregation’s spiritual gifts 🙏🏽
In just a few weeks we’ll be presenting Music for an Autumn evening with our guests Poole Borough Band.

Our Winton church recently received a garden makeover, courtesy of a team effort thanks to a nursery and a local business. The gardening skills were provided by Cherry Tree Nursery, which provides voluntary work for people with mental ill-health, and insolvency practitioners Antony Batty and Company donated plants, accessories and six team members came along to help on the day.
Tina, our Winton centre manager says:
“During the day our garden was transformed. A sensory area was created especially for our Tuesday sensory group to enjoy. A bug area was enhanced using the bug hotel made by our youth group in the shady area where little else grows. Weeds were pulled, holes dug and our garden became something quite beautiful. We would like to say a huge thank you to both Cherry Tree Nursery and Antony Batty for giving their time and money to this.”
Sir Conor Burns, MP for Bournemouth West, also visited our local church on the day and lent his support to the makeover.
“It was a pleasure to visit The Salvation Army and see the wonderful transformation happening thanks to the volunteers in the garden,” he says, “This place is one of hope, company and sanctuary for so many locally and it is great to see the garden added as an extra place for people to enjoy.”
