1st Grafton SEND Scout Group

We are really open to your thoughts and ideas for our activities, what your young person would really like to get involved with and have a go at something they may not have had the chance to before. So let us know below, what should we add to the programme?!

Thank you to everyone who came to see us at Evenley Wood Garden today, we had a brilliant time! Here's to our next Taster Session at Brackley Junior School on Sunday 4th August from 2-4pm, join us for the adventure!

If you are joining us today you can find us in the forest school area, just let reception know you're with the Scouts 😊

Mini raft building

Firelighting

Welcoming all young people with SEND and their parents/carers to try us out before committing to membership.

If you would like to volunteer please do come along today and we can chat further. All adults will need a Scouts DBS and training will be provided.

Our group ensures all young people feel safe and can be themselves in a supportive environment.

Our taster sessions will continue to run on the following dates until our official launch on 22nd September by which time we hope that all parents/carers will have signed up their young person on our membership.

We are hoping that membership will be no more than £20 per month and also hope that the local community can support us with fundraising activities in the future to keep our costs to a minimum.

We are really looking forward to seeing lots of you at our taster sessions over the summer and making lots of plans for our opening in September.

Opening this group will mean the world to all of us especially our young people with SEND, volunteering with the group is so rewarding and all of our young people will be grateful to have even more opportunities to take part in many adventures on their own unique journey.

Our proposed opening date will be 22nd September and we will be planning to meet every other Sunday afternoon, 2-4pm at Brackley Junior School. Volunteering could be offering 2 hours of your time once a month or once every 3 months etc. and it would mean the world to us all.

We are really looking forward to seeing you all at our next taster session this Sunday 7th July. It will be held at Brackley Baptist Church from 2-4pm and will have the following activities on offer (these will not include any food products) -

Mini raft building
Bird tables
Mini pioneering
Marble run making
Paper aeroplanes
Paperclip helicopters

We are short of volunteers this Sunday due to other commitments so if you are able to help the team please make yourselves known when you arrive - thank you! You may wish to help with one of the activities, meet and greet on the door or with refreshments.

We cannot run our group without you, our amazing adult volunteers who take time out of their lives to support our young people with SEND achieve their aspirations and build their confidence.

In order for us to achieve our opening in September we would like as much help as possible. If you would like to find out more please contact us.

We all had a great time at our Open Event back in May and we are getting prepared for our next two events. We still have spaces at our 3pm session tomorrow if any young people would prefer a quieter session.

Our next event is appointment only on Sunday 9th June. We will be focussing on a much quieter event for those young people who need it and limiting numbers. If you feel your young person would benefit from a quiet session and would like to attend please email [email protected] to book. Sessions are 2-245 and 3-345.

Our next open taster event will be on 7th July and this will be advertised soon.

This Sunday 19th May we will be holding our very first open event and we will have lots of activities on offer including archery, art, games, soap carving and much more.

Following the Open Event we will be holding a series of Taster Sessions until the 22nd September. We hope by that point we will have had chance to meet you all and once we know how many young people and adults we have we can start building our programme of events. We aim to provide all activities you would expect from Scouting including adventures, camps and skills for life, we will work with each young person and their families to ensure we are in the best possible position to meet individuals needs. Our plan will be to meet every other Sunday afternoon throughout the year, including holidays and provide additional adventure days.
