Buttershaw Scout Group - Bradford South
Anyone between the ages 4yrs-14yrs can join our scout group.
Last week we had a session with other leaders from across the district. During this we had refresher training on Risk Assessments, ensuring we can keep your young people as safe as possible and started to think about events over the next year.
We also had a presentation, during this both myself and Squirrel gained awards.
Volunteering is extremely rewarding itself but it is nice to have this recognition by gaining awards. 🙂
Do you know a 6 to 8 year old who loves to have fun, make friends, and have amazing life experiences?
We currently have space in our Beaver section!!
We meet each Tuesday (term time) at the Bedale Centre - Buttershaw from 6.30-7.30pm.
Just drop us a message to arrange your free trial!
Please share this with anyone who may be interested.
On Thursday, some of our Cubs and Scouts attended the Silver Chief Scout Award Ceremony. The Silver Award is the highest award available to Cubs and we are very proud of their achievement!
Huge thank you to all the leaders involved in them gaining the award. Without your dedication and commitment this would not be possible.
Great idea if you need to get out and about on Monday.

We are so pleased that Angela has become our new District Lead Volunteer (District Commissioner) congratulations Angela from all at 69th.
Today, we are thrilled to announce the appointment of our new District Lead Volunteer/District Commissioner, Angela Gannon Theabould, who has been actively involved in Scouting for the past twelve years.
Her journey began as a parent helper at the 20th Bradford South (Low Moor) and progressed through various roles, including Group Scout Leader at the 20th and Training Manager for the District.
Excited about the challenge, she aims to drive the District forward.
We all extend our best wishes to her as she embarks on this new role.
Huge congratulations to some of our Cubs who were presented with their Chief Scout Bronze award, which they gained during their time in Beavers. The Chief Scout Bronze Award is the highest award that can be gained in Beavers and we are so proud of every member who has worked hard to gain this amazing achievement.
Big thank you also goes to Squirrel and Fox, without your commitment and dedication to the 69th our young people would not have been able to complete the award.
Well done everyone!
Happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful Mums!
Thank you for all of your support for our group and Scouting as a whole.
Thank you to our volunteers who are mums, you give your time to ensure our Young People have a rock and varied programme, giving family time to provide camps and experiences.
Thank you!
Huge congratulations and a massive thank you to our Scout Leader Steve. He was awarded his 15 years service award last night.
Like all of the members, Steve is a huge asset to our group. He runs Scouts, helps at Cubs and is always on hand for advice and reassurance.
Thank you again Steve!
Here are a few more photos from our visit to St Matthew’s church in Northowram for our Squirrels Christingle. It certainly put me in to the Christmas spirit! Thank you so much for James at St Matthew’s for having us and to the team at 65th Bradford South (Shelf) for organising such a fantastic event.
I was really pleased with the maturity of all the young people, they were extremely careful with their Christingles and sat incredibly well.
It just goes to show how incredible Squirrels are!
Two Squirrels and a cub went to the District Squirrel Christingle this afternoon. We joined 65th (Shelf) Squirrels and had a lovely time.
We are currently looking to expand our leadership team.
If you are interested in volunteering with us, please message the group or Email [email protected] for more information.

Some ideas for the Young People over the summer holidays within the local area.
Yesterday marked 54 years since Neil Armstrong took a giant leap for humankind by being the first man on the moon!
One leap for man, a giant leap for Scouting! An Eagle Scout himself, Armstrong took his World Scout Badge to the moon.
As we draw to a close on this school year, I just want to take this opportunity to say a massive thank you to all parents/carers and young people for being a part of our group. Our leaders put so much into the organisation and running such amazing programs but this wouldn’t be possible without you!
To our leaders, THANK YOU! For the late nights planning, the meetings, the organising, everything! You are amazing!
I hope you all have a great summer and I can’t wait to hear all about it from the young people when we are back in September.

A fantastic opportunity for the Young People of the city to learn about what goes on in space, and about a possible career in the space industry.
Always really nice to see cards or letters of appreciation for our Adult Volunteers, from parents of the young people 😁
This was written for our Cub leaders (Kelly and Chelsie) after the recent Cub weekend camp.
The Cubs were also on camp at the weekend at Blackhills-Campsite
They took part in loads of activities, including wide games, making s'mores around a fire, building dens, air rifle shooting and crate stacking, hiking off site to make a start on their Naturist badges. They even managed to cook their own tea on a barbecue and each cub got to have a go at turning sausages and flipping the burgers.
They all had a great time, and want to go do it all again!
As always, we'd like to thank the adult volunteers who gave up their weekends to make this weekend happen for the Young People.
The Beaver Scouts spent their weekend up at Blackhills-Campsite.
They got to have a go at so many fantastic activities, including den building, soft archery, soft tomahawks (new activity on site!), toasting marshmellows, taking part in a campfire. Covering plenty of badgework in the process!
They also took part in some science experiments, run by Fox. They all certainly seemed to like making the slime.
For many of them, it was their first experience of staying under canvas overnight. They all did so well, with it!
One of the Beavers even got to celebrate their birthday, whilst on camp
As always, we'd like to thank all of the adult volunteers who gave up their weekend to ensure that the Beavers had a fantastic time!
