Task Force diaries 2024 - today's Task - removing old tree guards & posts from the Remembrance trees by Hundred Acre field.
Very sadly last night, the Mansion at St Ives was on fire. Eight fire engines and over 50 firemen were in attendance. They did a wonderful job in getting the fire under control because of several hindrances, one being there is no mains water supply at St Ives so they had to get much of their water from Coppice Pond. It's possible that the fire was deliberately started. We are extremely upset about the possible loss of this building which stands at the heart of St Ives and with some parts being several hundreds of years old. We've attached a drawing of the back of the mansion with the garden from the mid 19thc as a reminder of the buildings beauty and history. A sad night for St Ives.
