A member of our Senior Leadership Team also took part in the Mascot Race.
Following the passing of Pir Syed Maroof Hussain Shah Arif Qadri Naushahi (an esteemed and respected leader in the Muslim faith), a funeral service is being organised by Jamiyat Tabligh-ul-Islam to allow mourners to pay their respects.
As over 10,000 mourners are expected to attend the funeral service, and in order for this to take place in a safe way, the following road closures will be in place:
From 4pm
🚧 Lumb Ln from B6144 White Abbey Rd to Bowland St
🚧 Bowland St and Gracechurch St will be one-way to help the flow of traffic.
From 6pm further potential closures
🚧 B6144 Westgate from White Abbey Rd to Drewton Rd
🚧 White Abbey Rd from City Rd to Lumb Ln
These road closures will start to be put in place between 4pm and 6pm on Friday 19 July and are expected to remain in place until around 9pm, though they will be lifted as soon as is safely possible following the service.
There will also be diversions to some local bus routes – information will be available on West Yorkshire Metro’s website.
Those wishing to attend are asked to speak to their local mosque about the arrangements for attending and allow plenty of time for their journey.
Road users not attending the service are encouraged to seek alternative routes and allow extra time for diversions.
We’ll be at the Emergency Services Family Fun Day on Sunday (21st July) 🤩
Gates open at 1pm so head down early and take advantage of everything on offer from sneaking a peek at Crime Scene Investigation, visiting Yorkshire Air Ambulance colleagues, having a go on the water flume and much more.

***Lidget Green Day of Action***
Bradford South NPT staff along with Op Steerside colleagues carried out a day of action focussing on parking/traffic offences/off-road bikes in the Lidget Green area of Great Horton. Council/Neighbourhood Wardens and the street cleaning team were also in attendance.
Sergeant Amirat of Bradford South NPT was joined by the Great Horton Councillor Sirferaz Saddiq and visited a number of businesses and spoke to residents around any pertinent issues/concerns. The local PCSO's visited addresses with the neighbourhood wardens, again addressing any concerns, provided crime prevention advice and distributed leaflets.
As part of the operation, several vehicles were seized by officers, including the below BMW which was outstanding stolen and another whereby the driver was disqualified. A number of drivers were issued with tickets (TOR's) for a range of offences, including no insurance/no licence and failing to wear seatbelts. Officers at the same time carried out a Speedwatch on Cemetery Road near to the junction with Glenee Road, as well as further checks on Hollingwood Lane/Hollybank Road. The council wardens issued several tickets for parking on single/double yellow lines.
Sergeant Amirat said, 'we have followed up on several concerns raised by the local residents around obstructive parking and traffic violations, as well as the annoyance caused by quads and off-road bikes. As part of this operation we have demonstrated our commitment in tackling the issues which are impacing the local communities within Bradford South. The operation links in with the ongoing Operation Spotlight which focusses on the Fatal Five traffic offences during the month of July. We will continue carrying out similar days of action moving forward'.
