We've arrived in sunny Huddersfield this morning ahead of our performance at this year's Yorkshire Areas contest☀️🎶

We wish the best of luck to all bands competing this weekend, particularly our sister band BD1 Brass who are playing in the 1st section this morning!🎺

🌟We are thrilled to welcome our third new player of the year, Hannah French!🌟

Hannah joins our cornet team from our sister band BD1 Brass after four years, most recently on principal cornet🎺

She has previously played Soprano with Elland Silver after working her way up from their junior band, and is looking forward to playing in the championship section once again!🎶

⭐️ We’re pleased to welcome another new signing, as Simon Mansfield joins on bass trombone.

Since helping us out over Christmas, Simon has joined us full-time after a successful tenure with Old Silkstone Band

His contest debut will come at the top section Yorkshire Regional Championships in March.

We had a fantastic weekend last week getting into the Christmas spirit🎄

After our joint concert in Saltaire, we had a fantastic evening in Grassington, before performing in front of a packed out Bradford Cathedral on Monday🌟

After a busy weekend a few of the band retired for a curry afterwards!🍛

We're now taking a well-earned break before returning in the new year to do it all again🎺

We had a fantastic concert with BD1 Brass last night in Saltaire🤩, and it's the start of a busy weekend for us as we head to Grassington tomorrow night🎺

We're then off to Bradford Cathedral on Monday to join the Cathedral Choir for the City's carol service🎄

After a memorable concert in Bingley last night, it was our great honour as an organisation to be involved with Bradford Remembrance Service today.

The city came together to remember those who have sacrificed so much, with prayers from different faiths representing the City of Bradford.

We will remember them.

We are very proud of all our young players within the CoBB organisation and Phoebe Mallinson is no exception.

We are sure the Denis Wick mouthpieces will take her playing to a whole new level 💫

Welcome to Phoebe Mallinson new Young Ambassador.

Phoebe began playing the cornet at the age of eight before discovering her love for flugelhorn when she was ten. She is the flugelhorn soloist of the City of Bradford Brass Band as well as being the principal flugelhorn of the The National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain.

In 2017, Phoebe was lucky enough to gain a place at Chetham's School of Music in Manchester where she studies trumpet with Tracey Redfern and Gareth Small. The school has allowed her to play in symphony orchestra and big band as well as many solo opportunities.

In 2022 Phoebe reached the televised Brass Category Final of the BBC Young Musician of The Year competition where she showcased a mixed programme of trumpet and flugelhorn.

After her A levels, Phoebe hopes to join one of the UK’s leading conservatoires in order to further her studies in music performance.

⭐️Eb BASS VACANCY AT CITY OF BRADFORD!

🗓️We rehearse Tuesday and Thursday in the centre of Bradford in our own band room-equipped with bar area!🍻

🎶This week some of the musicians in our organisation have been working hard on the The National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain course in Wymondham.

Phoebe was once again appointed principal flugel player🌟, with her brother Noah also joining her in that section, meanwhile Ted has been a part of the Soprano cornet team💪

They finished the week with a fantastic concert in Saffron Hall last night!🎺

⭐️As well as appointing our fabulous new conductor, Matt Ryan, we would also like to welcome a handful of new players to the band!

First up, father and son duo Martin and Ted Crosby on cornet and baritone. Ted is also a soprano cornet player with the Elland Silver Youth Band and a member of the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain🎺

Next, Matthew Loud is back after completing his degree at the Royal Welsh College of Music where he studied cornet with Tom Hutchinson 🎓

And finally, Dennis Wick artist, Matthew Cotterhill! He’s a sousaphone and tuba player joining us on Eb bass. He was a founding member of Renegade Brass Band which combines a big brass sound with raw hip-hop vocals and beats. 🕺
