💊 What exactly do antibiotics do?

Simply put, antibiotics are poisons that are used to kill. Only licensed physicians can prescribe these drugs that are used to kill bacteria. Certainly, many people have benefited from using them. However bacteria aren’t the only organisms that antibiotics kill.Antibiotics also wipe out the “good bacteria” that grows in your gut, upsetting the delicate balance of your intestinal terrain and opening the door for harmful bacteria to establish themselves in their place. This viscous cycle could also toughen up some bacteria by encouraging them to mutate and develop drug resistance. This ‘good bacteria’ is extremely CRUCIAL for your immune system to function properly!!!
You CANNOT develop a resistance to essential oils
Because the chemistry of an essential oil is so complex, microorganisms can’t develop resistance to them by mutating. There are too many different chemical factors to overcome and the bacteria cannot outsmart nature’s amazing medicine cabinet….think about that for a minute!
Dr. Kurt Schnaubelt, states in his book Advanced Aromatherapy, The Science of Essential Oils, that “essential oils have a 95% success potential against infections. Essential oils represent a gentle, supportive approach to healing. Because of their chemical structure, they’re metabolized in the cells like other nutrients. Essential oils are naturally antibiotic and antiviral, as has been documented in research around the world and more recently in the U.S. Each oil has a specific frequency, and so do our organs and body systems and the nutrients needed to maintain optimum health. 🤓 Oklahoma University conducted research using dōTERRA’s On Guard® Protective Blend. This powerful essential oil blend attenuates influenza virus infection.
BACKGROUND
Influenza is a significant cause of morbidity and mortality. The recent pandemic of a novel H1N1 influenza virus has stressed the importance of the search for effective treatments for this disease. Essential oils from aromatic plants have been used for a wide variety of applications, such as personal hygiene, therapeutic massage and even medical practice. In this paper, we investigate the potential role of an essential oil in antiviral activity.
METHODS
We studied a commercial essential oil blend, On Guard®, and evaluated its ability in modulating influenza virus, A/PR8/34 (PR8), infection in Madin- Darby canine kidney (MDCK) cells. Influenza virus was first incubated with the essential oil and infectivity in MDCK cells was quantified by fluorescent focus assay (FFA). In order to determine the mechanism of effects of essential oil in viral infection inhibition, we measured hemagglutination (HA) activity, binding and internalization of untreated and oil- treated virus in MDCK cells by flow cytometry and immunofluorescence microscopy. In addition, the effect of oil treatment on viral transcription and translation were assayed by relative end-point RT-PCR and western blot analysis.
RESULTS
Influenza virus infectivity was suppressed by essential oil treatment in a dose-dependent manner; the number of nascent viral particles released from MDCK cells was reduced by 90% and by 40% when virus was treated with 1:4,000 and 1:6,000 dilutions of the oil, respectively. Oil treatment of the virus also decreased direct infection of the cells as the number of infected MDCK cells decreased by 90% and 45% when virus was treated with 1:2,000 and 1:3,000 dilutions of the oil, respectively. This was not due to a decrease in HA activity, as HA was preserved despite oil treatment. In addition, oil treatment did not affect virus binding or internalization in MDCK cells. These effects did not appear to be due to cytotoxicity of the oil as MDCK cell viability was only seen with concentrations of oil that were 2 to 6 times greater than the doses that inhibited viral infectivity. RT-PCR and western blotting demonstrated that oil treatment of the virus inhibited viral NP and NS1 protein, but not mRNA expression.
CONCLUSIONS
The essential oil blend significantly attenuates influenza virus PR8 infectivity in vitro without affecting viral binding or cellular internalization in MDCK cells. Oil treated virus continued to express viral mRNAs but had minimal expression of viral proteins, suggesting that the antiviral effect may be due to inhibition of viral protein translation.
MRSA or “staph” bacteria is another bacteria that is resistant to antibiotics. MRSA (Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus) used to be a hospital-acquired infection but now there is a community strain that is resistant to almost all antibiotics. Again… On Guard essential oil blend is being used to the rescue! It is being studied by a scientist by the name of Jennifer Eddins who is a specialist in Medical Microbiology. She is currently researching the effects of On Guard on MRSA isolates and her laboratory studies have shown that not only is On Guard highly effective at killing this bacteria but when it is sprayed and dried onto a surface, if MRSA were to come into contact with this surface it could not live on it for up to 7 days. It is highly effective at killing and resisting this super germ. She has tested On Guard against 17 strains of MRSA and it has been able to kill all 17!

A recent article from NEWS WEEK highlighted the dangers of cleaning products. It stated, "Regular use of cleaning sprays can have as much of an impact on health as smoking a pack of ci******es a day, according to a new study.
Scientists at Norway’s University of Bergen tracked 6,000 people, with an average age of 34 at the time of enrollment in the study, who used the cleaning products over a period of two decades, according to the research published in the American Thoracic Society's American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine.
They found that lung function declined in women who regularly used the products, such as those who worked as cleaners, was equivalent over the period to those with a 20-cigarette daily smoking habit.

This is a Doterra recipe.

Dishwashing tablets

1 cup bicarbonate of soda.
1/4 cup citric acid.
5 drops grapefruit.
1 tbspn OnGuard cleaner concentrate.

🍃I used 2 tbsps of the cleaner concentrate as I felt the mixture wasn’t damp enough. It may have been because my cup was larger than it should have been. 🍃

* Place everything into a glass bowl and mix with your hands.
* Once everything is incorporated push the mixture into a silicone mould. (I made sure the mould produced tablets that would fit inside the dishwasher tablet compartment.)This mixture filled 1 1/2 moulds.
* Leave to dry overnight.
* Pop the cubes out of the mould and store them in a damp proof jar/bottle.
* Use 1 per wash.

I have to say I am over the moon with the results. My dishes have come out gleaming, the glasses have never looked better 🥰👍. Good luck trying these out. 😊 # # #

Arborvitae & Siberian Fir
When your child has a tummy bug that OnGuard wont touch, it probably needs arborvitae.
When you have something going on physically that you need Melissa oil for and don’t want to spend that much just yet- arborvitae does much of the same work.
When the respiratory system needs support, and not the kind that antibiotics help with, use Arborvitae.
When nothing is taking your mind off discomfort: try a capsule of 2 drops each Siberian Fir and Copaiba with 1 drop Helicrysum
For gentle respiratory support apply 2 drops Siberian Fir mixed in a bit of carrier oil to chest and back.
When your little one (or yourself) has had a fever and every muscle just feels limp and tired: add several drops of Siberian Fir to 2 tsp of carrier oil massage into arms, legs, and back, wrap in a warm blanket and rest.
And if you just want a good diffuser blend try these:
For a yummy warm crackling campfire scent 4 drops OnGuard + 2 drops Arborvitae
For a fresh clean walk in the trees scent use 1 drop Arborvitae + 3 drops Siberian Fir + 1 drop Peppermint
For a happy pick me up in a diffuser or in a roller bottle with a bit of carrier oil: 3 drops each Siberian Fir, Grapefruit, Bergamot
How do you use either of these oils?

Some people might not know that many essential oils have compounds in them that may dissolve some plastics BECAUSE the job of a high quality essential oil is to support healing and eradicate things that are harmful to us. (Most common plastics are full of nasties!)
We recommend that you use a resistant container, such as glass, steel, or high-quality plastic (Polyethylene [PE] or Polypropylene [PP]) for holding oils.
dōTERRA® ONLY uses plastic parts (lids, orifices, diffusers, etc.) that are made of HDPE plastic and will not be broken down by essential oils.

So let me share something with you......
Wednesday I started to get a sore throat.
