Another busy week for the green staff getting all surfaces cut twice. Unbelievable condition considering a month ago we wasn’t thinking of getting machinery out on to the course.

Our 9 hole course “childerditch” getting a full course cut today! The greenkeepers are doing a brilliant job 😍

Our golf course is coming alive! Another couple cuts and we will be right where we want to be!

Start of winter to today! What a difference to our 15th green complex. Will make a more challenging 2nd shot to this brilliant hole!

The right of the 4th hole was a dark dense area that sits wet and has thick course grasses making the rough very tough to play out of. We have thinned this area out and raised the canopy of the fur trees allowing more light and air to move through this area. This over time with mechanical practices will remove the courser grasses and allow fine grasses to thrive which makes it quicker to find your ball but still present a tough shot hitting from wispy fescue grass.

This area to the left of the 16th path was overgrown and kept blocking the overflow pipe for the pond which is the main outlet for the winter to release water from the site. We have cleared all the scrub down to stem level which will be much easier to maintain. We have added grass seed and will be creating a bridge on the path to prevent the path being washed out when it blocks and over flows.

Left of the 17th green and 18th hole was a dense area hiding a beautiful view point of the course. We tasked our self this project to create a an ecological area in view of the balcony at the clubhouse. We have put wild flower seed in the areas we scraped with the vision to encourage wildlife such as bees, butterflies and birds.

Over the years the greens have shrunk a lot. This year we will be taking greens back to their original size when they were first built. Here is a sneak peak of the 18th green where we have extended the front and the right hand side. This will be creating 6 extra pin positions with some risk and reward pin positions 😎

The 7th green complex will play a lot different this year. We invested a lot of money in to our irrigation hardware last year with the same approach for this year. The approach goes from front left to back right which will now be irrigated from changing the heads. Small details have a huge impact 😎

The 15th greenside bunker has been made bigger through the winter months hopefully catching balls that would run down the side of the green. The Liner will be put in tomorrow followed by sand on Thursday. the 15th green complex has had a lot of work done this winter. Hats off to our greenkeeping team!

Following the Junior Captains Day (GOY) Stableford on Sunday 11th June 2023. We had another excellent turnout for the junior captain, Jack Jones and some extremely excellent golf in very difficult hot conditions, which provided us with some outstanding scores. We'll done everyone 🙌🙌👍👍

The results

1st - Place and winner of the Junior Captains Day (GOY) Stableford was Fred Palmer with an outstanding score of (47 points)

2nd - Place went to Evan Ross (43 points)

3rd - Place went to Ollie Mills (42 points)

With no winner of the nearest the pin on the 18th hole, the decision was taken by the Colts captain to award this prize for who then came fourth overall on the day.

4th - Place was Louie Edward Griffin (41 points)

Well done to ALL the Colts for playing fantastic golf in extreme heat and providing us with another fantastic day.
