💫 Today we celebrate our beautiful Tao’s 3rd hatchday. He is such a handsome boy and such an amazing character. Happy Hatchday boy. 💫

💫 Happy International Bird Day from some of our bird team members. These amazing creatures have adapted to almost all climates on our planet and their beauty and wonder mesmerises people. They remain a favourite here at Exotic Explorers, they amaze us everyday. We feel privileged to get to call these amazing individuals family. 💫

💫 Happy New to all our followers, clients, friends and family! This year has been crazy, the business has grown so much and we are so grateful to everyone involved for their super hard work. We have had to deal with quite a few personal issues this year and our team has not failed us once! We have been part of some amazing events and have seen so many repeat clients, which shows we are doing something right. As always when working with animals we have had to say goodbye to some amazing team members, but have also been fortunate enough to welcome some amazing new team members who are all progressing in their event training so well.

💫 Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house not a creature was stirring… except for Elfie and Evie preparing for their trip back to the North Pole. They are ready to help Santa unload his presents and then return home until next year. Thanks for all your ‘help’ this year guys. 💫

💫 Today Elfie was seeing how he was going to get home. He thought he would see if Dawn one of our amazing encounter chickens could carry him home! She decided it was time for a sit down and chill out, so don’t think he’s going anywhere! 💫

💫 Today when looking for Evie and Elfie we found them with one of our young iguanas Tau. They were playing Jump Rope with his tail.
Iguanas have a very long tail, that helps them with balance when they are climbing up in the trees. The tail also makes a great weapon that they use as a whip when an animal threatens them. The ridge on the back of the tail can cut deep and cause a lot of damage. 💫

💫🔔🔔 Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells, Jingle all the way, oh what fun it is to ride in a one Guinea-pig Open sleigh…. 🔔🔔💫

💫 Evie is trying to work out how to get home this week and thought she would see if Dill-Weed one of our guinea pigs could help! I mean how cute would they be flying across the sky on Christmas Eve. 💫

💫 Tonight we got out for our Christmas team meal, and how amazing it is to get to work with such a bunch of amazing people! We laugh and we joke but most importantly we love each and every one of you! Thank you so much for everything. 💫

💫 So Elfie wanted to help today with some free flight training of the birds, not a great place to sit Elfie, especially with our Eglantine. He can be a bit grabby!!! 💫

💫 Due to the nature of what we do we can’t always take on loads of rescues, our animals are all very interactive and some animals from undesirable backgrounds don’t always want to be around people which is very understandable. However we always help if we can. We were contacted by the lovely ladies at help me home Brentwood to say that the police had seized a snake that was being kept in a car. We offered to take him as they were not equipped to keep him long term. He has now been through his faecal tests and isolation and we have discovered he is a lovely boy, so Nathan has called him Borris and it looks like he is staying. Welcome to the family Borris. 💫

💫 Looks like Elfie is joining Boo, one of our African Pygmy Hedgehogs, for breakfast this morning. Unlike our European hedgehogs, African Pygmy’s do not hibernate so must be kept warm and comfortable all year round. Lots of Exotic animals are facing losing their homes with the current cost of living crisis so please always research any new pet and their needs before committing. This includes checking the costs of any extra heating they may need, this often surprises people. 💫

💫 Ben and Nathan finally got round to giving the van a really good clean today, looks like Elfie and Evie think they didn’t do a good enough job and we have found them polishing tonight! At least they out of trouble….. 💫

💫 What is Elfie up to today, he’s playing fetch with Ned and a Christmas tree bauble, is that a good idea? We think not, as anyone who knows our Ned will attest he eats everything!!! Someone may have some glittery p**p. 💫

💫 Yesterday Puri, Julie and Josh visited Little Havens Hospice to spread some Christmas cheer. 💫

💫 Trying to find the elves all day! We just found them enjoying their time with our Sulcata Tortoises, they have even been taking piggy rides! Wonder if they prefer the tortoises or the reindeer... 🤣💫

💫 Today Evie was hanging out with Beta one of our yellow crowned amazons. She was having fun on her swing until Beta decided to bring her up for a cuddle. 💫

💫 Evie is hanging out with one of our newer additions this year, Aitanna our black and white Tegu. The elves get up to a lot of mischief and pranks during their stay, but they also love help socialising our encounter team. 💫

💫 Elfie was relaxing this evening with a life drawing class. He chose our baby panther chameleon Dali as his subject. Good work Elfie, god knows what mischief Evie is up to? 💫

💫 Look at this lazy Elf, it’s getting closer to Christmas and Evie is floating around relaxing in one of our Boa enclosures. Muggle and Alex seem to be ok with her chilling though! 💫

💫 Today Elfie and Evie have teamed up rather than pranking each other. They have used their elf magic to enchant the tap to produce animal food! The mice are very happy that their food is on tap. 💫

💫 Yay Evie has turned up, but she’s getting Elfie back! Looks like she’s getting Odin to give him a good scare today! These 2 are such mischievous little elves. 💫

💫 Still no sign of Evie!!! But we found Elfie having breakfast with Amara this morning! He clearly dressed up for the occasion. Having breakfast with a rainbow Lorikeet clearly calls for a rainbow elf!!! 💫

💫 Lovely to be part of these sessions, giving some joy to our elders this time of year. 💫

💫 We haven’t seen Evie all day or Nathan? Let’s hope he realised in time yesterday! We caught Elfie sunbathing in with Maria one of our boa constrictors today! He looks pretty happy with himself! Has he won the prank wars? 💫

💫😱 Looks like Elfie is trying to get Evie back big time for the Blender prank! Hes trying to feed her to Nathan! What do we think is more dangerous? The Blender or Nathan? Let’s hope he notices in time! 😱💫

💫 🥕 The pranks are continuing, today while preparing some of the animals breakfast. Elfie and Evie do love causing chaos. 🥕💫

💫 ☃️ We asked Evie to help prepare some sugar glider mush, this is where we blend a selection of high quality vegetables and fruit with supplements to ensure they have the correct range of nutrition. It’s called the SG2 diet. I don’t think she understood though and it seems Elfie is in the blender. They are again ignoring elf and safety again. 🎄💫

💫 Looks like Evie and Elfie are continuing to help us out today, we are getting worried when the pranks will begin again! Evie is changing a heat bulb for us, did you know one of the most common injuries we see in rescue reptiles that come to us is burns from heat lamps? This is why it is so important to make sure all your heating equipment is caged and your animals can not come in to contact with the hot parts. Hope Evie remembers to shut the cage, at least Rowena our Gray Banded king snake is there to remind her. 💫

💫🎄 If there is one thing elves know how to do well it’s make hot chocolate. Today they took a break from pranks to make the whole team some lovely warming drinks, as it is getting quite cold out there. ☃️💫

💫🕷️ Well there is always a bit of competition between these mischievous Elves, but Elfie has already teamed up with his buddy Carla the Golden Knee Tarantula to trap Evie in a glass coffin! Wonder how long it will be before they let her out? 🎄💫
