Somerset Military Lodge No. 10021
A Somerset Masonic Lodge formed in 2022 exclusively for Serving members and Veterans of Her Majesty's Armed Forces.
Brethren,
You are invited to The Masonic Circle 2021’s “The evolution of Emulation ritual, its lectures, ceremonies and the silver matchbox award”
on Saturday 26th October 2024 at 4:00 pm(16:00 hours) BST.
W. Bro. Tony Henley SLGR is the holder of the Silver Matchbox – “Complete set”. Since 1897, only 125 brethren have attained that accolade.
We are honoured to host Tony as he provides an overview of ritual evolution 1723-1823 and the silver matchbox award.
The talk will include a brief overview of the transition theory – Operative to Speculative, the various Masonic exposures, which give an insight to ritual at their time of issue, the Stability and Emulation Lodges of Improvement, the Silver Matchbox award and much more.

Armed Forces Day at Vivary Park, Taunton 6th July 2024.
The Somerset Freemasons gazebo stood firm in Vivary Park despite the overnight high winds and was well attended by Brethren from across our region, including of course the Somerset Military Lodge.
Organised by W Bro Barrie Palmer, Provincial Grand Membership Officer, and with cake supplied by W Bro Duncan Sully-Dunbar (kindly home made by his dear wife), the day went well. The weather was very kind, encouraging the public to attend this fantastic event and enjoy a fly-past by the hugely popular RAF Red Arrows.
The Freemason stand was visited by many of the general public and a surprise visit by members of a new Lodge (I’m told from another Galaxy), who where very keen to show off their Regalia. Although I think providing the ‘Inner guard’ and ‘Stewards’ with guns is probably a step too far for our Somerset Lodges.
On this Memorial Day this is the grandfather of a member of our lodge. Sgt George James of the Dorsetshire Regiment who landed on Gold Beach 80 years ago today. Share your stories with us too.
We will remember them
A few picture of the latest meeting. As you can tell plenty of fun was had!!
