Recently, Jacob Culver employed as a Yeovil College Plumbing Apprentice at CHG South West, was recognised as the South West’s regional HIP Learner of the Year. This success meant that Jacob qualified to take place in another competition for the national grand final.🌟

The competition hasn’t been easy, and we acknowledge the amount of time and effort that Jacob has put into this opportunity, the quality of his work is incredible!

We are delighted to introduce Jacob Culver, Construction Apprentice, employed by CHG South West, and crowned winner of the South West’s regional HIP Learner of the Year competition. 🤩

“I was put forward for the competition by the College, but I believed I had the skills set, motivation and technical knowledge to represent the college in a positive way.

I am really happy with myself for winning the regionals, I wanted to show myself what I am capable of and prove that I can do it. I feel very prideful, and it was nice to show off my confidence for a change.

If it wasn’t for my employer I wouldn’t be at this stage of the competition. The quality of work at my company is amazing. I am very fortunate to be at a company with such high standards. They strive for me to be the best I can and produce a high standard and quality of work. 🔧

I am looking forward to the final and I am really keen to meet people who are as passionate as me about the industry. I’m going to make sure I prepare by revising the schematic, but most of all I’m going to go in there and have a good time.” 🌟

Meet our new electrical manager, Leo 👋

Leo started his electrical career at the age of 16 before being offered a role at Flybe as an avionics technician. At 17, he was the youngest ever technician to work for Flybe and even excelled into the mentor role after just 1 year 👏

Since then, he has completed his electrical apprenticeship, spent time working for a family run electrical firm and even run his own electrical company!

Leo joined CHG South West in August 2021 and quickly demonstrated his vast electrical knowledge. We’re very excited to welcome him into the role of ‘Electrical Manager’.

We’ve been working at Old Wardour Castle, a spectacular 14th-century ruin in Wiltshire 🤩

Our customer, English Heritage, required the water systems updating following connection to a new private water supply.

After carrying out a survey and water sample analysis, CHG were instructed to install replacement centralised water treatment consisting of iron removal, sediment filtration and ultraviolet sterilisation.
We also installed a storage and pumping system to provide increased capacity, improved water pressure and flow to the existing systems around the site, including provision for any future developments.

A newly installed Worcester Bosch 400 series system boiler which is perfect for this 4 bed family home in Poundbury.

This boiler comes with a 10 year parts and labour guarantee! 👏

Our engineer, Harry, has recently completed this tidy installation in Blandford Forum.
He has fitted a replacement Vaillant gas boiler and Joule UK cylinder, as well as upgrading all the domestic plumbing and fitting new Ultraheat radiators throughout the property.
