Early Childhood Project

The Early Childhood Project has been running a successful Toy Library in Brighton and Hove since 1988 The age range is babies and up to age 8.

The toy library is open for in person borrowing, see the opening times. If it's very busy, you may need to wait in the children's centre reception until we have space due to ongoing covid ventilation restrictions. The toy library continues to be free. Toys and books can be borrowed for up to 4 weeks at a time but there are no fines for late returns! Up to date information [email protected]

Happy Father's Day to all the men who have cared for us and fathered us. And love to everyone whose fathers are absent or loved in memory ❤️

Our next thankyou in volunteers week, is to our fabulous Trustees who volunteer each year onto the Executive Committee to manage the charity and ensure we stick to our charitable aims and also stick to the budget😄
It is really exceptional that we have two founding Trustees still working with us since we began in 1988! We salute Mandy, our founding and ongoing Chair, and Judy, followed quickly by Chris who joined us soon after. Big thanks to all our Trustees... Mandy, Judy, Chris, Cara, Amina, Charlie and Caroline. We couldn't do it without you!

It's volunteers week and we are saying thankyou to our wonderful volunteers, Lucy, Susie, Judy and now Salma who truly are the glue that keeps the toy library and the play group together.
They work hard in sessions and behind the scenes, giving us crucial practical help, good chat, support and know the ins and outs of the charity as well as we do. Thankyou doesn't seem enough, we salute you!

The toy library is open as usual during half term. This young borrower took advantage of a rare quiet moment to build the track with the assistance of his Mum and our lovely volunteer Susie. 😊

We have frogs. Quite a lot of frogs. Their mission in life is to bring fun and joy into the lives of toy library borrowers!
So, come and find our frogs. Take them home and practice your pinging skills.
Susie our toy library volunteer is our champion🏅 who will be yours?

No I don't know what's going on either....😅
Hello peeps.
How are you all doing so far in 2024?
We are super busy in the toy library and the toy library drop-in playgroup each Tuesday is full each week, which says a lot...
And yes, of course we'd like a bigger room, space for five more workers and the funds to go with it...
but hey, we're still here, still doing what we're really good at and that will do for now!
Come and see! 😀

31/12/2023

Wishing you all a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year!

25/12/2023

Judy, Sarah, Lucy and Clair send all our dear toy library families and all our friends and supporters best wishes for a good Christmas and Winter festivities.
Whatever you are celebrating may your stars be merry and bright and have a happy and peaceful time.
Back on 2 January 🌲
