Don’t neglect your feet 🦶🏼​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Our lives have evolved over centuries, we’ve become more static and in particular our feet have suffered. ​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
Our ancestors would use their bare feet to run on uneven ground, becoming hard and strong to adapt to the terrain.
​​​​​​​​
But whilst we have changed the way we live, our bodies haven’t changed, the structure, the bones, the muscles of our feet are still the same but we have become so inactive and attuned to being supported by shoes. Our intrinsic foot muscles don’t work so much anymore and this important part of our body bares so much weight. ​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
Even in our yoga class we usually stand on a nice flat surface so still we don’t give our feet a real challenge to wake up. ​​​​​​​​

Meet Lillie aka 🤍

Based here at Studio iO!

“I’m Lillie and I am the Owner and Technician at That Edge Effect. I wanted to put a face to the name and introduce myself to all of you lovely people.

I have lived in Brighton my whole life and have always been very creative in my personal life and within the education routes I’ve gone down, as well as my previous job as a Bespoke Tailor, which required precision and patience which has definitely helped me in my journey to PMU!

During lockdown I was made redundant which was the push I needed to turn my dreams of doing something creative and working for myself into a reality!

The beauty world has always fascinated me, I love that it is an industry that really gives people the confidence to express themselves! I started my training back in 2021, I got in touch with my good friend, who is a huge inspiration to me and is absolutely killing it, to do my Beginners SPMU Ombré & Combination Brow at her salon in Essex in 2021. I’ve recently completed my masterclass in Realism Hairstrokes and my Lip Blush course with the gorgeously talented and am really excited to be able to bring these treatments to the studio.

I’m so grateful to be able to do something I love so much and make it a career. Seeing the transformation PMU can make to people’s lives is amazing and I’m so pleased to be a part of this incredible industry! About the owner of Studio iO 🤍​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Over 20 years ago Holly walked into her first yoga class at the Brighton Natural Health Centre. Having been sporty at school she felt like yoga would be a good compliment and also another energising way to keep fit. She was drawn to Ashtanga and other forms of yoga that were dynamic and felt like fitness.

Fast forward 10 years and Holly was travelling the world exploring yoga of varying styles giving yoga much more meaning. During this time Holly worked as a DJ and for 10 years her life was working late nights but yoga brought balance to her life, a bit of Yin and Yang to that lifestyle. The desire to work a crowd with uplifting beats and find a softer side with a yoga practice and healthy eating.

Holly’s classes are a mix of strong dynamic creative flows curated with a mixture of soulful and electronic beats. Holly also teaches more toned down gentle flows that restore and tap more into the para-sympathetic nervous system helping us to promote healing and change, through more body sensing and slowing down. Since becoming a mother of two these practices definitely play a big part in her daily self care.
