This is a little experiment.
When ever I post a silly selfie, I get LOTS of attention and likes.
In contrast, when I've spend hours, days, sometimes weeks creating a piece of VR art, hardly anyone sees it.
I believe this is because I post a direct link to my YouTube channel, and the FB algorithms don't like this.
So, today I present a little video of a piece I created with OPEN BRUSH using my Oculus Quest and gaming laptop. CITY LIGHTS is a simple VR world which didn't take me too long to make, as I only used two brushes, HYPERGRID and DOTS, plus SHINY HULL for the floor.

SHADOWLANDS
A Tilt Brush tutorial & journey through a fantasy forest - By Virtually Susu ( )
Made with on an 2 & a Strix Scar 3 for challenge 2023
In creating this piece, I only used two different Tilt Brush brushes, plus the SHINY HULL brush for the floor. For the twisted trees, I used the ICING BRUSH, and made three different variations of tree which I copied & pasted in a multitude of sizes. I used the DIAMOND HULL brush for the bubbles and crystal clusters. My palette was exclusively white. I created the BUBBLES by using the Diamond Hull brush on a spherical guide, and then did lots of copying & pasting of the shape I created in various sizes. The standing crystals and crystal clusters were made with the DIAMOND HULL brush using the straight edge, then, again, lots of copying & pasting in different sizes. For the floor, I used one side of the CUBE GUIDE at an enormous scale, locked so it was parallel to the world space, which I then painted with the SHINY HULL bush in white on a narrow setting. I used the DIAMOND HULL brush on the floor CUBE GUIDE at a slightly thicker setting than the SHINY HULL brush, so the crystal stepping stones, pathways, and random crystal gardens stood out from the floor. For my background, I used the STANDARD SCENE in the ENVIRONMENT settings, then went into the lighting settings to change the sky to a turquoise colour, and the ground to mid-grey. I selected a soft, neutral grey for both my SUN light setting, which gave me hard shadows, and also the shadowless MOON light setting. I clicked on the FILL LIGHT option on my lighting settings and selected several swatches in a grey scale from pure white to deep black. Now for the fun part! I clicked like mad all over the FILL LIGHT settings panel until I magically hit DISCO MODE! This made my lighting 'dance' and created moving shadows. I had a lot of fun with the CAMERA PATHS tool, but I'll leave that for a more detailed tutorial video. Meanwhile enjoy the rest of this journey through my crazy giant world. I can tell you that I was totally transported while creating and working in this environment. Enjoy!

A VR World by Made with Tilt Brush on an 2 & a Strix Scar 3 For the month of for my challenge for , I combined two themes, that being . I wanted to give the feeling of an icy, sparkling wonderland, and had my pallette set only to WHITE the entire time. Any colour that you see are reflections from the irridescent DIAMOND HULL brush. I added the moving shadows for texture and interest by putting my lighting into DISCO MODE, but also kept the lights in monochrome. I used plenty of SNOW and EMBERS for sparkle. As I painted in my headset for several hours, the midwinter sun set and turned my room icy. I didn't really mind or notice as it all felt like part of the experience. I shall film a video run-through in this enormous world soon. I would like to create a fantasy forest for each season, and this is the first of this series. I have always been fascinated with the concept of combining Ecstatic Dance & painting with light in , and when I was asked to make a video for a band called OMNICHRON, plus the theme of GLOW for 's monthly , the track STAR CHILD inspired me to dance in my headset.
I wanted to use only 'glowing' brushes for this video to stay in theme, and also do a little demo for my more 'technophobic' artist friends, to show how easy it is to create with Tilt Brush. Watch the video again to see the notes I made when I used different features of Tilt Brush, which is, in any case, very intuitive to use.

Autumn Leaves By
You know that magical moment; that brief time when Mother Nature bursts into all her fiery glory. It's as if all the mighty trees of the forest somehow know and tell each other that NOW is the time to spontaneously and simultaneously burst into flames; like a curtain call at end of the summer's performance. They wear the brightest colours they can; reds, oranges & golds. It's a magnificent show!
How do they all know? How do they communicate?
Well, it occurred to me, as I was making this piece, that deep under the ground, and high above in the canopy of leaves, the roots and branches are touching, talking in a silent tree language. Above and below. When you walk amongst these mighty, ancient giants, you become divine, a channel between heaven and earth.
So listen to the leaves; bask in the in the beauty, before the Great Wheel turns once again, and the starkness and stillness of winter begins.
Blessed trees! Blessed leaves! Blessed Be!

I picked 'GARDEN' for September's monthly challenge theme, and decided to paint using my 2 and just for the sheer joy of it, without having much of an idea of what I would end up with. The completed piece ended up so enormous, that it made even my pokey G14 quiver and quake.
This is a journey through the rainbow. I designed an ornamental garden which is geometric and formal, and yet, as with anything involving Mother Nature, wild and unpredictable. I divided my garden into eight segments, each featuring a chakra coloured flower, the eighth representing the pure WHITE LIGHT that occurs when one mixes all the colours of the rainbow together, depicted by white daisies and hot pink fuchsias, just because I love them.

This is a little 'work-flow' video of how I made my piece RO-BOTTERFLIES.
As a artist and , I was determined to learn the delights of and push my art to another level, but the software is so vast and overwhelming, I didn't know where to begin.

My new business cards arrived today, and I'm a bit pleased with them. I am launching myself on this path as I am OBSESSED with creating art in .
Before I ran my Magickal Faery Festival Company, I was a trained theatre designer, so my passion for creating 'worlds' was already born long ago. The first time I put on an , revved up and danced and painted with light, my mind was completely blown. I've been creating on an almost daily basis ever since, learning new skills.
I don't really know where this journey will take me, but what I do know is that if you LOVE what you do, you are already winning. With LOVE anything is possible.......

Having spent a great deal of time recently with my face pressed against the glass at various aquariums around the world, I was inspired by the incredible variety of life, colour and form I encountered. For my theme for March, I chose LIFE, which fitted in neatly. Some of the gorgeous anemones, in particular, reminded me of brushes I had used in and , and so I used my with an intention to create a vast underwater world. Normally, I work tethered to a gaming laptop, but I wanted to see how far I could go using the headset as a stand alone, so the world that I made is not quite as populated with creatures as I would have liked. This is as far as I got before things started to go wobbly.

In late January, 2022, a of group of cutting edge virtual reality artists from around the world, both professionals and amateurs, all with the same love of and community, got together in to celebrate completing the 2021 organised by and a great team from .
Some of us had committed to a VR art piece per day, some one per week (me), some took on a monthly challenge, and anyone was welcome to just join in on a casual basis. ALL OF US were winners, and for me, a year of committing to producing a finished piece per week, was a wonderful, colourful learning curve, which has served me on the road to becoming a professional artist, selling my unique works on and offers of other VR projects are in the pipeline.
This is just a rough little documentary of our fun awards ceremony in VRChat.
