Fellow gamers, we are saddened to announce that 1UP Cafe is closing down in 2 weeks.

Thank you so, so much for all of your support over the last few years in helping us make 1UP a safe, inclusive and fun space for everybody, both young and old, to enjoy retro console gaming and board games together, and for all the personal connections and friends that we have made along the way, you are all appreciated and will not be forgotten.

We extend this thanks and gratitude to everyone who has worked for and with 1UP over the years, as without you this business simply would not have been possible.

As part of our closure, we will be selling most of our furniture, equipment and retro gaming memorabilia between now and the end of the month. If anyone would like to reserve and pay for anything just pop by or DM us to make your enquiry.

We will also be holding an appreciation send-off party for all our lovely customers on Sunday 27th with discounted food and drinks, to which you are all invited (details to follow)

As for the future, this is uncertain. We will be shifting our focus to online retro gaming retail but as for having a physical gaming space, there may be a ‘2UP’ in the pipeline but this is not a definite, as it depends on a number of unknown variables and certainly wouldn’t be until 2025.

For now, we will be making the most of the final weeks ahead at our current location and look forward to enjoying a well-earned break next month.

We are looking for a Dungeon Master to run a fortnightly DnD session every other Thursday from 6-10pm. This will be a new group of campaigners with mixed experience. The type of campaign you wish to run can be decided by yourself and the group during the first session. Let us know if you’re interested and we can get this started! 😃 the first date will be tomorrow (Thursday Aug 1st) which is super soon, but if that date does not work then we can book the first session for Aug 15th instead. Open to beginners and experienced players and hopefully the start of many more to come! We only have 2 boards atmo but if it’s a hit we’ll invest in more sets and some clocks. If you do wish to join us later and can bring along a set that might be really useful.
