Greenbank Pottery
Handmade ceramics. Useful and beautiful. My tableware is thrown on a kick wheel using rain water!
What's your favourite way to spend a Saturday morning? We've got colds in our house this weekend so think today we might cozy up and play board games. I've also been quite into colouring this last few weeks and we've been colouring a salamander using some rainbow pencils which adds a nice dimension of unexpectedness so maybe some of that. I'm not a morning person so awakening happens gradually.
Coffee first I'll work out the rest in a bit!
Peace!
I'm going to be making some more of my star and dove decorations this winter, here's the first murmaration in its infancy..
And how about this one?! Another mug experiment. This one has a reddy glaze for the vertical brush strokes rather than the iridescent green the last few mugs have had.
I like the autumnal colours here although this glaze doesn't blend so nicely into it's background. It's impossible for me to not be drawn to these red shades right now though. Basically it hits September and I start wearing terracotta cardigans and brown trousers. Gotta dress with the seasons ππ

Which way up do you prefer? I tried a few variations of the new mug design having done it first with the lower two thirds brown and top and inside greyish blue. I think I like both of these as well as the original so will just continue to do a few of each π€£!
It's interesting how much of a different character the mug has when glazed in thirdss (left) vs glazed in halves (right).
I think I've got a few of these left from the weekend. Β£30 plus UK P&P, give me a shout if you'd like one.
And don't forget to enter my free giveaway ( see pinned post)

Hi Everyone. It's the West Bristol Arts Trail this weekend. Loads of venues and artists to visit! I'm going to be at Clifton High School along with some other amazing artists. Come see us!
https://westbristolarts.com/venues/
Is this a keeper? I tried a new mug design, what do you reckon?
I tend to have to darker colours in the autumn and I really like this glaze combo but am considering trying it upside down so the top and inside of the mug is brown and the bottom blue. Also maybe on a red clay, but I ran out!

It's October!! When, what, how???! Anyone else convinced it's still supposed to be August? I'm so confused and somewhat cold and resentful. ππ
Bowl (because some of you might be here for the pottery rather than my musings π€·ββοΈ) is single fired stoneware with wax resist.
Do you like order or chaos? Mostly my pots are round even though my thoughts and world are hectic and messy. Every now and then though I make a more wierd and abstract pot. I wonder if I was a more calm and at peace person, would be pots be more chaotic π€ π€£
What small win are you celebrating today?
So 'Mugshot Monday' is a thing in the ceramics social media world. Rarely do I know what day of the week it is or manage to coordinate my posts in any temporal manner. If I do remember and also find a mug photo, it's usually not until Tuesday at best. So posting a mug on a Monday morning feels like an achievement (I do social media as a morning achievement generally because my brain doesn't kick in till later on). Go me.
These are nice big single fired stoneware mugs, Β£30 each.
Anyone got any lightning yet? The sun in shining here in a last ditch attempt at summer, although the weather forecast says thunder which I just love. If it's gonna rain, let's bring the drama!
This pic is some of my classic stoneware beakers. Single fired and perfect for water, coffee or G&T whatever the weather! There's some on available on my shop or shout me on here as each one is unique.
Think about how you only usually see a few of the accounts you follow on your social media feeds... this is because of the algorithm. Social media shows you more of things you interact with, but also it shows you stuff that other people interact with as it thinks you might like it.
Help your friends and family with small business on social media by taking a moment to comment, share or save their posts. A like is wonderful, but doing one of the above things will give the post extra algorithm brownie points and mean it gets shown to more people.
So buying off a small business is a great way to support them but you can also have a big impact by just clicking save on a post! Can't think of a witty comment? While we'd all love a proper conversation, just an emoji will cut it π
I've been trying consciously to do this for a while now, so comment on my posts and I'll try to do the same back!
A somewhat thoughtful looking vase! I have never settled on a standard vase shape, so they are things I make sporadically, three like this came out of the last firing, each, with pleasantly different glazing!
Single fired stoneware, this is about 13cm tall with extra weight left at the base to stop it toppling over. Β£27 plus p&p or free local delivery/ collection.

Open studio next weekend! I'll be opening my workspace as part of the BS5 Art Trail on 7th and 8th September. Come see where the magic happens!
https://bs5arttrail.co.uk/
Fired the updraft wood firing kiln at Kentwell Hall yesterday! Lit the fires at 8am and closed at around 11pm. We fired slowly as there were some raw glazed pots inside. We got to just around 1050C when the pots were glowing orangey yellow, perfect for our earthenware glaze.
Should be cool enough to open on Sunday.
I'll post some videos soon, turns out phone reception is a somewhat patchy here in 1535
Hello November!! While I'll be hiding away in my studio until the Totterdown Arts Trail, my pottery will be living the high life in the window of Bristol Favours Little Treasures on Church Rd in Redfield. Pop along to see my pottery, jewellery and decorations and to check out this lovely toy shop which is a total treasure trove and a delight!
