Earlier this week we talked to two of our Solicitor apprentices, Carrie-Ann and Bobbi, about why they chose to do an apprenticeship at VWV. Having joined us in September, they reflect on the benefits of choosing an apprenticeship, and talk about their journey into law through an alternative route. Sam is a trained collaborative lawyer and a Mediator, providing the best experience for her clients in what can be very difficult situations.

On the tenth day, meet Katie Morgan! Katie joined the VWV Family team in 2021, and is currently furthering her knowledge by studying with CiLEX. She has four and a half years of experience, including financial proceedings, children act proceedings and cohabitation disputes. Katie is very friendly and approachable, which lends extremely well to working with such sensitive matters, and sometimes vulnerable situations.

Katie has an outstanding sense of compassion for her clients, and knows just how emotional and personal this area of law can be, striving to help guide her clients through this time ✨

On the ninth day, meet Birmingham based Ellie Sofroniou! Ellie joined the Family Law team at VWV earlier this year and enjoys the different areas of law that are involved, such as financial disputes, child arrangements and prenuptial agreements. She is able to take an objective, detached view on each situation whilst remaining empathetic and understanding of the emotional difficulties the client is facing.

Ellie finds that family law 'mirrors her values', whilst allowing her to demonstrate her excellent people and communication skills. She is inspired by family law, as no two days are the same, and each case is different ✨

On the eighth day, meet Bristol based Michelle Wyatt! Since joining VWV in 2002, Michelle was inspired to join the Family Law team after going through a divorce herself. Seeing the 'mechanics' of the divorce process, she wanted to be able to help others who were going through the same thing.

For Michelle, the best part of working in this area is 'being able to be there for the client when they are feeling somewhat lost within the divorce process'. Her past experiences allow her to empathise with what her clients are feeling, and provide outstanding support to help guide them through this particularly emotional time in their lives ✨

On the seventh day, meet Birmingham based Kay Davies! With nearly 10 years of experience, Kay transitioned into the Family Law team as a paralegal in 2021. She has a breadth of experience in financial remedy and children act proceedings, and has previously specialised in several areas.

Kay decided to make the change to the family team as she knows that she has a lot to offer clients on a personal level, and she enjoys having the opportunity to build a relationship with her clients, and support them through a difficult time in their life ✨
