Is been such an amazing journey designing and developing this little stove. I really can’t believe where the time has gone… Then I look back at all the things I’ve achieved with it, and it’s like a mini time machine. Baby step after baby step really does add up to a huge distance covered over time.

🔥 Just at the beach one last time putting the final firmware through its paces on the LOFI Stove. This is the internal software which controls the fan and makes sure that the stove interacts with USB chargers correctly; while at the same time making sure the stove uses as little power as possible 🙌.
I’ve been grabbing as many dry twigs as possible and abusing the stove as much as I can, getting it super hot (too hot to cook on) - and then leaving it with the power on as low as possible to sure nothing turn off, or any internal parts melts!!
Things are looking good 🙌.

☕️ Coffee lovers will be very excited to know that the little LOFI Cup is ready!! (I know I am 🥳) These custom made cups will be available to buy them as an add on to the Kickstarter LOFI Stoves - some of the ‘super-early-birds’ have bought some already.

🙌 700 new circuit boards arrived and tested, everything is looking good and the chips seems to be programming O.K.
This was one of the last major hurdles / risks for getting stoves ready to ship, and all is looking good!
The new boards seem to be pulling less power, and along with more precise measuring equipment, the LOFI Stove looks like it will last for around 24hrs on full power with a 10,000mAh battery bank - this is quite an improvement on the original 15hrs originally thought. 🚀

🚀The last of the tooling is read for the 1st batch of 50 super-early-bird LOFI Stoves I’ll be making later in the month 🙌
Everything’s is tested and is working pretty well. Just waiting on the new circuit board to arrive and I can begin the assembly process 😃

⛰️ a fun day out in the the Lakes with and - alpine training and cravas rescue! Cup of tea at the top of on the LOFI stove cooked with twigs collected on the walk in 🔥

After a lot of research into different secateurs for cutting thicker twigs for feeding the LOFI stove, I found these small ratchet snips. They can cut 20mm diameter dead wood and only weight 128 grams - I’ll pop them on the website soon 🔥
I find using these snips is a lot quicker than a knife off an axe… and I’m my hands, probably safer too 😂🤣

♻️ We’ve made a pledge here at LOFI to always use re-used, recycled, recyclable or compostable packaging for anything we sell.
💚 I’ve been working out all the logistics and packaging for getting all these stoves out to you guys - and I’m pretty much those with is all. I found a second hand machine that uses water based natural gummed paper instead of plastic parcel tape, and I’ll be using these compostable stickers instead of plastic tape on things inside 🙌

🥶 icey conditions up on pen-y-fan last weekend were perfect for testing out the LOFI stove in adverse conditions. I’m pleased to say that everything worked well, except my fingers 😅 They were frozen, and could nearly operate the lighter!!

I eventually got the fir cones lit with a little help from some meths, but once going the stove was tiring along and cooked up a very welcome coffee in no time ☕️

I tried out one of the bags, as space s was limited with winter gear, and I have to say it tasted excellent!! A really tasty, sweet tasting brew without hassle - thanks guys 🔥

✊ Standing in solitude with all those that attended the walk on Dartmoor National park with the .2roam - what an incredible turn out!! 🧨

I was away working (photographing for an event) in the very wintery Brecon Beacons over the weekend, so wasn’t able to attend. So a huge thank you hours out to ask those that did - you guys rock!! 🔥

These National parks are so precious, and should be enjoyed by everyone with no charge or fee.

The lakes this weekend we’re looking good this weekend (between the storms). It was my first time up Helvellyn, and it certainly didn’t disappoint! 🏔️

Progress is being made here at LOFI 🥳 the parts are coming together fast for the 1st production run of the stove. Titanium parts are stamped, turned, and welded…. 💚 Recycled polyester cords have been woven for the bags, and the Ember guards are nearly finished :)
I can’t wait to share more of the process with you all later in the new year!

It’s 7 pm on a Sunday evening… I have spent most of the day trying to find an appropriate USB port for the LOFI stove.
Actually, that isn’t quite true. I’ve spent most of the day trying to problem-solve an issue within the assembly of the stove. Some of the internal parts were fouling with each other when they fitted together, not by much, not even by enough that most people would ever know.
"this problem has been niggling away in my head for over six months now"
It had been stopping me from committing to getting tooling made up, and it had been stopping me from knowing which direction to move in with a couple of major design commitments.
By returning to studying data sheets, and with a deeper understanding of the problem…
I think I’m finally there.

What journey it’s been getting bags made up for the LOFI stove. Who would have thought that finding environmentally sustainable materials and factories with ethical work practices was so difficult! 💚

The 1st bags that were offered to me, you know, the standard mesh bags we see on so many camping products were an unbelievably low price. $0.23 ?!! I had to question it…

How is this even possible? 😥

I’ve since sourced RPET mesh, which is made from an old stock of recycled post consumer waste, and I think it’s also recyclable too. The factory has been recently audited to assess the quality of working standards, wages, and overtime worked.

I’m looking forward to becoming a more established brand, so that I have even more leverage in these markets 🕊

Come on Bristol…. You can do better than this! Literally thousands of single use water bottles for your 10k runners?! All chucked in recycling bins. Surely we can find an alternative? I’m guessing every runner already has a water bottle at home that they could have used? Re-usable cups? …there must be something?

Bristol was the first British city to be named European Green Capital. I do sometimes wonder how this happened!
