This weekend as Remembrance events are held throughout the country we remember how The Chocolate Factory employees played a part in Two World Wars:
“We chose BS5 in particular for a few reasons. Our son lives about 10 minutes away but mainly we wanted to find the right new-build. We’d been thinking about moving to a new build for a while, somewhere more energy efficient. But we didn’t want somewhere out-of-town and preferred the idea of a brownfield site. The Chocolate Factory provided the perfect solution.”
Jo, new resident at The Chocolate Factory

We have just one 4 bedroom house on Bruce Cole Lane available to buy in Greenbank at The Chocolate Factory.
This brand new home has an excellent energy rating, comes with an integral garage fitted with an electric car charger and has south facing balconies and patios looking out onto the Bristol and Bath Railway Path.
Here’s what one of our newest residents had to say about moving to The Chocolate Factory.
‘’Maintenance of my old house, which was built in the 1930s, was always expensive as every time you started doing any work it uncovered more work that had to be done. I wanted a new build but wanted it to be surrounded by other homes so that it remained safe while I was travelling. Greenbank and The Chocolate Factory ticked all the boxes’’.

“Major developments like The Chocolate Factory do start to change the area but nothing brings a neighbourhood down like unused buildings. The building my shop is in was derelict for four years and now it is bright and colourful with two businesses. Meeting the new people moving into The Chocolate Factory as they discover the area is fantastic.”
- Resident Fran Harkness, owner of BAM Store + Space

Here’s what one of our newest residents had to say about moving to The Chocolate Factory.
“I had a look around and Greenbank stood out as a really nice area to live. There are a lot of community activities going on which I liked, great pubs and a number of eateries to drop into so it made the move from Stoke Bishop an easy decision. I walk my dog so the fact there are so many parks and green spaces around was a strong factor and my new home overlooks the Bristol Bath Railway Path, which is another really nice walking route and a quick way to get into the city centre’’.

Located in the popular residential area of Greenbank, Bristol, BS5, The Chocolate Factory is a new mixed-use development for the community. Nestled in the heart of an already existing vibrant community in Greenbank and with the Bristol to Bath Railway Path right on the doorstep, the development will include 140 new homes as well as leisure, work space and community space.
Sitting on the site of the former Elizabeth Shaw chocolate factory, once a significant and much-loved part of the community, the completed development retains some original factory buildings and will rejuvenate the neighbourhood, reopening the site to the community once again.
Work commenced on site in late 2019 to deliver a range of homes, including shared ownership, flexible workspace, retail, a community hub and public open space with new links on to the Bristol and Bath Railway Path.
The site totals nearly 4.5 acres and the development sits on the old Elizabeth Shaw Chocolate Factory which relocated to the outskirts of Bristol in 2006.
