Come learn this on Monday @ Blue Mondays :-)
First time with a teaching buddy tomorrow on Blues Monday’s with Reagan! We have an awesome class for you. A short choreography followed by creating totally different effects with the exact same sequence! 😊
Thank to the wonderful Ross for recording yesterdays lesson. You can view it again here: https://youtu.be/1U2U55-_Rp0
Really looking forward to teaching tomorrow for Blue Monday’s. it’s going to include duck tape and spoons!
I'm going to try a teaching experiment for Blue Monday's class on 13th.... Most blues classes teach concepts to make sure the lead and the follow are playing those roles and not just replicating movements. I completely support and recommend this style of teaching. However because most people are now solo dancing I am going to teach a solo sequence... This is great, its challenging me to remember what I actually do! It will be great for you too as it helps develop muscle memory in your body for when you come to dance in closed, open or break away with actual humans!
TECH FAIL: Here's a picture of My Zoom dance with Jeremy Peye last night. My screen showed us nicely connected and as if we were dancing together but zoom recorded the feed and not the screen so still trying to figure out hows to flip it and reverse it hahah......

Blues History Snippets: Mammy DaDune was an incredibly famous blues singer and pianist in New Orleans in the 1880's. It was said that folks would que around the block to hear her even if they didn't get in! Unfortunately very little evidence of her playing remains today....
Jazz Standard... Autumn Leaves
Blues History Snippets: After slavery was abolished in the US in 1865 the next few decades saw many former slaves move into the cities and migrate away from their former lives. This brought together a melting pot of sounds and this is the time that the blues was said to really be born....
These wonderful teachers are giving away free online lessons to help us all dance through the storm..... Share and make our community grow even if we can’t physically dance together at the moment.

I had a great time teaching 'Learn to Blues Dance in a Day' at the weekend. Looking forward to Teaching with Abi Ashton on Monday 23rd March at The Blue Mondays Class@The Boardroom 7:30pm - 8:30pm gearing up for a Juking workshop that weekend :-)
Welcome to my new Page! I'm hoping to do a few workshops in Bristol to share what knowledge I have and have some fun!
All my workshop will be taught in switch so that everyone learns to lead and everyone learns to follow. You do not have to carry this onto the social floor but for learning I find that it has soo many benefits. Learning both roles is amazing for your dancing, helping to understand what works and why, but I also find it really interesting psychologically as in life we are often required to lead and follow and this way of learning can be quite a challenging and powerful self development exercise (from my own experience and well as in conversation with others)
Same gender dancing is very common in the blues scene. You can choose how close you dance to your partner and I will teach you the common embraces that you can choose from so you never have to be closer than you feel comfortable with. In fact consent, co-creation and autonomy are key features of why I love blues dancing more than other partner dance styles.
If this style isn’t for you that’s ok, I can create classes for small groups or couples that would prefer to learn set roles.
Do get in touch if you have any questions and I look forward to dancing with you!
