Big congratulations to Marcelo Timas on graduating with his BA (Hons) in Media Production!

Marcelo’s journey with us began 5 years ago when he came from Belgium to complete his Level 3 BTEC. Now, as one of our few remaining international players, he completes his full degree at SGS.

Arriving in Bristol with English as his fourth language, Marcelo didn’t let that hold him back. His determination saw him excel both on the field and in the classroom.

Marcelo is now moving on to pursue his master’s in Digital Marketing and continue his football career. We’re proud of his achievements and excited to see what’s next!

Anthony had been playing baseball at a Junior College but missed football and sought a new opportunity. After discussing options over the phone, Anthony and his parents visited SGS and were impressed with what they saw.

Given his experience as a high school starting QB in Illinois, awarding Anthony a full tuition scholarship was an easy decision.

“This scholarship has given me the opportunity to play the game I love while studying for my sports media degree.”

Adjusting to life away from home and in a new country, Anthony quickly became a favorite among his teammates due to his humble and hardworking attitude.

“My coaches pushed me this year to not only become a better football player but also a better person off the field. The facilities allowed me to improve my game on the field and in the gym.”

Anthony is now continuing his studies back in the USA in Arizona, where he hopes to continue both his sports media education and playing football in local semi-pro leagues.

“This year has given me the experience of playing American football overseas and opened up new opportunities in leagues throughout Europe. My degree will provide me with new skills in the media industry and a solid foundation in sports media.”

We recruited Simon to SGS after an MVP award in Nuneaton’s Youth National Final where he quite literally ran away with the game.

Adrian had many options available to him when looking at where he would study his degree. After discussions of what SGS could offer him with athlete development alongside his education he committed to studying with us.

“Pride has been a great choice as I’ve learned so much being here and the coaches have helped me develop into the player I am today.”

Adrian was placed on scholarship last year after qualifying for the money by signing his first pro contract in Poland.

“The scholarship money has allowed me to be able to upgrade my kit such as gloves and cleats to be able to play to my best ability on the field and help the team as much as possible”.

It’s always been about his degree though as Adrian plans for life after football, knowing that the degree will see him employable upon graduation.

“When it comes to my course (sports conditioning and exercise), it has suited my goals perfectly with me looking to work in the coaching/training field. I’ve learned so much over my first two years and hope to learn much more in my third!”

We love it when our sixth-formers continue onto their degree with us at SGS. Alfie made that decision and was rewarded with a scholarship as a GB International.

“Being a scholarship athlete here at SGS has allowed me to put more effort into my degree as well as football as it has helped relieve some of the financial struggles of being a university student”.

Our student-athletes are given full wrap around support that starts in the classroom and continues onto the football field. You are a student first at SGS.

“Here at SGS I am not only being supported by the scholarship but also my course tutor, with consistent 1/1 meetings to ensure i am on track and helping me improve and hit my deadlines with my academic goals in mind. At SGS we have a scholarship scheme for our University team, awarding those that have already competed at a high level with money back against their tuition fees. There is a sliding scale starting with GB junior caps up through pro-contracts, all the way to prior high school American imports.
Each year we also offer significant scholarships for those we feel can really enhance our program.
