Hello lovely people, I’m conscious I’ve not posted anything here for a while 🙈 I’ve still been busy cake making (just very behind with pics!)
A friend sent me a post recently from a fellow baker detailing the time and costs that go into making each cake. This pushed me into reviewing my own circumstances as well as finally completing my tax return for the year…. As a result, I’ve made the difficult decision to stop taking any further orders.

I’ve loved my cake making journey and nothing beats the feeling of receiving a lovely message of appreciation or seeing happy faces when you hand over something you’ve spent so much time working on, it’s simply the best! But cake making is also extremely time consuming, as well as the hours put in to creating each cake it also comes with hours of shopping, online ordering, planning, responding to enquiries, food hygiene paperwork, and so soooo much cleaning 🙈🤣 unfortunately with another job and 3 children the numbers of orders and time I have each week is limited and after 3 years of juggling all of the above and the cost of fuel, supplies, ingredients, business insurance and household expenses increasing and a tax bill at the end of the year to dent any profit, I feel the time has come to hang up my apron for next year.

Please don’t worry if you are booked in for the rest of this year (I have orders booked all the through until Xmas eve!) I am continuing as usual with all current orders.

Who knows what the future holds and whether as the children get older or circumstances change I will come back to the cake making once again, so watch this space! 😘
For next year I’ll be very much looking forward to free weekends and finally being able to get to bed before midnight! 😴🤣

I’ve been a bit slack of late in posting pictures of latest creations and will be catching up soon! but the truth is it’s been a little crazy this last month 🤪 but now back with it! 💪🏻

Cakes by Carrie has grown so much over the last 12 months thanks to the lovely feedback, recommendations and repeat orders I’ve received, I’m so grateful for them all ❤️ I’m really excited for this year and there’s a few things happening behind the scenes….

I’m in the process of setting up a sideline business producing my own personalised cake toppers and will soon be offering these on a wider scale, watch this space for designs!

On a more personal level, I’m hoping to take a bit more time out to embark on a bit of a health overhaul (wish me luck!!) I’m really excited to get going with both, however it means for 2022 my weekly order slots will be reducing and likely to fill more quickly. My other work commitments, new projects and all that comes with 3 children 🤪 is planned around my diary some weeks in advance so last minute bookings will also be less likely this year. Please do send a message with any dates asap to get booked in early 👍🏻

Thanks again to everyone that has supported my small business, the Cakes by Carrie kitchen is now officially back with it for 2022 albeit a little less manic! 😅

I am working my way through my messages so apologies if I’m yet to respond, I’ve decided to hold off taking next year bookings for a couple of weeks until the covid situation becomes clearer so I have more of an idea of my availability/ work situation. I will be sure to post an update as soon as I can.
