Been a while since you had any leadership training, if any? In a role or thinking about undertaking a role that involves organising people? This could be useful if you are a woman aged 55+

Bristol Women's Voice and Bristol Older People's Forum invites women aged 55 and over to this interactive workshop to self-reflect, collectively explore and discuss feminist leadership principles in practice.

✨ What to expect ✨
We will be looking at power dynamics in society and the tools and skills we want to develop to be feminist leaders such as active listening, communication styles, consent, boundaries, individual and collective well-being and more.

The workshop is accessible, filled with activities and no prior knowledge of feminist principles is necessary.

We hope that you will be leaving with a new sense of your power and place in the world.

Remember the post below from 2014?

The work continued and benches were installed along Church Road - Bristol. The one outside the Blue Sky Cafe is particularly appreciated. However the one on the corner of Roseberry Park, outside what was the CM3 shop became associated with anti-social behaviour and was removed.

If you look at Google Maps street view you can still the bench on the corner of Church Rd and Roseberry Park.

Your local Bristol City Council Councillor Rob Bryher writes:
"
You may have noticed that the bench at the junction of Roseberry Park and Church Road (outside the CM3 shop) was removed on 14th May 2024 having been raised as a removal job to the council’s contractors in January 2024 (before I was elected as a councillor).

I am seeking local views on whether the bench should be replaced, with a view to implementing whatever the majority decision of the survey is. This is a chance for the community to decide on a small part of local infrastructure, so please do take part!

Take part in the 1-minute survey: bit.ly/RoseberryParkBenchSurvey

Thanks so much for participating in shaping our community.

Have you heard of the Friends of Avon View Cemetery? Find out more.

If you like walking on Troopers Hill you may also enjoy visiting the lovely Avon View Cemetery, not only a working cemetery where friends and relatives can quietly remember their loved ones, but also experiencing improved care to make it even better for wildlife and visitors.

Excellent news - Save the date for 2025 - the last weekend of July is 26-27.

Redfest is pleased to announce that we will be back in the park in 2025 (no, not this weekend..!). It will be the last weekend in July 2025, not the normal August slot. So get it in your diary now! πŸŒ³πŸ˜β˜€οΈ

The park licence has been applied for and we have started assembling a crack team of production maestros.

The festival will have a renewed focus on community. It will have music and food, spoken word and wellbeing, creating a celebration of our neighbourhood where we hope everyone feels welcome. More to come in the coming weeks and months.

Footnote: Grounded are running their own β€˜Redfest’ event this weekend. Grounded was one of the original venues and has always done a festival in their garden since Redfest started, whether or not the park event has happened. Their event will be very much in the spirit the Redfest started which is DIY and for the community, and while it's not an official Redfest event, they will have donation buckets for the festival next year.

We plan to have some community events over the next 12 months. If there's a venue or business that wants to be involved we will try our best to accommodate!

Two sets of keys found on Troopers Hill

Have you lost your keys including a car key?

They were spotted at the weekend and left on the dog bin at the top of Troopers Hill where you pass from the Hill (Local Nature Reserve) into Troopers Hill Field.

Yesterday we also had a report of "a big set of keys" on the information board at the Summerhill Terrace entrance to Troopers Hill Field. No photo of that set. If anyone is passing today and sees them, could they take a photo and add it as a comment below?

Many thanks.
