Just about to watch England thrash spain....

Spanish roads, brown stains...
I've noticed this brown staining on a.lot of roads in Spain that I haven't noticed in other countries. Had a debate over whether its remnants cow poo, but it seems to uniform and universal.
It's clearly absent where car tyres have been.
There is no sign or evidence that it is in any way slippery.
Pondered it being some effect of sunshine/heat on the tarmac itself.
Does anyone have a clue?

Thought I'd share my experience of Dunlop Mutant tyres, as fitted to Yamaha XSR700. I bought in the reviews that they work well on gravely, small country roads as well as on main roads. My experience is that yes they do indeed give plenty of confidence riding down the gravely/grassy central part of country lanes (slowly!) & is very good on normal roads. Very stable on the road without of cornering feel and grip.
Even after 6300 miles of touring and day trips....there is still plenty of tread, especially on the rear. Front edges are clearly going but crikey with that mileage!!

Last night we pitched in the dry, but it soon rained like stair rods...so we consoled the an out of date sidre.!
Today it rained all day with heavy mist..through the scenic (not) valley "do Sil". Decided not to camp with wet kit, so plan adapted to wonderful apartment ;)

A warmer day, breakfast tortilla, cheese & tomato baguette and a dip in the sea....but wait we seem to have got enrolled in food delivery services judging by the top box stickers....🤣🤣🤣

Prepping for 2 weeks of Spanish scorchio, I've opted for a Coolcovers
seat cover for the Yamaha XSR700. The XSR range has 3 types of seat; single or dual and also the XTribute model has its own dual seat.
They dont do a coolcovers for the single seat but very helpfully offered to make it while I waited. They even supplied tea and biscuits!
Hopefully not only will I have a cool bottom in the heat, but also a dry bottom in the rain.

Act now: Motorcycles in bus lanes consultation.

The Government has launched a consultation on default access for motorcycles in bus lanes. MAG has been fighting for policy consistency on bus lane access for many years and urges all riders to respond to the consultation.

As part of the Government’s Plan for Drivers a consultation has been launched asking for opinions on allowing default access for motorcycles in bus lanes. The announcement was made on Sunday 17th March and the consultation is open until 9th June.



The Government’s news story led on other elements of the broad announcement. Mainstream media reported on these other issues including LTN’s and 20mph speed limits. MAG will be commenting on these issues separately. However, MAG was quick to spot the launch of the long-awaited bus lane consultation.



MAG’s Director of Campaigns & Political Engagement said:

“It is perhaps not strange that a key policy for motorcycling slips past the headlines. But for motorcyclists throughout the country this really is an opportunity that must not be missed. The fight for motorcycle access in bus lanes has been fought one authority at a time for over three decades. A consistent national policy is long overdue. I would urge every rider in the country to spend five minutes responding to the consultation survey.”



The Government is suggesting two options. Option 1 is to do nothing and continue with the patchwork approach currently in place. Option 2 is to allow motorcycle access by default in all ‘with-flow’ and ‘contra-flow’ bus lanes in England and Wales. Scotland has devolved powers and cannot be included in this consultation, but MAG will push the Scottish Government to follow suit to create a UK-wide consistency. Northern Ireland already allows motorcycle access in all bus lanes.

Since the promise of this consultation was made last autumn, MAG has been seeking to get the consultation extended to cover bus gates. Disappointingly, the Department for Transport has not accommodated what we consider to be a logical extension to the discussion. MAG will continue to push for motorcycle access through bus gates and other traffic filters. We are therefore advising riders to mention bus gates and other traffic filters in the final question in the consultation survey.

Crackdown on anti-driver road schemes and blanket 20mph limits to put local consent first These measures from the Plan for Drivers will improve drivers’ lives, shorten journey times, and ensure traffic measures have buy-in from the people they impact.

I'm intending on road biking over the Brecon Beacons on Monday 28th if anyone wants to join in. All day of course 🏍

I'm going to road bike ride over to the top-knot cafe; aka Bafflehaus tomorrow mornin about 9am before the summer weather returns..

Day 8 of the Spanish TET Picos area. Last day of the epic 1600km ride from Bilbao round the TET loop ccw back to Bilbao.
Our injured party decided to take the 40m road back to the start and was accompanied by Matt. Alex and I rode the trail as a pair; from Villacayo the tracks start similarly dusty trails but once up into the hills we were back in familiar terrain.
