An Autumn post in August? It's more likely than you think 🍁

Autumn is just around the corner! It may not feel like it, but before you know it, we'll be into September. Then October... Then November, you get the idea.

It's important to start preparing early for the colder months - so we've prepared a list of things you can do to make sure you're garden is prepared for the autumn! Autumn is a great time to get a good clean-up in before the weather turns nasty - mowing the lawn, cleaning garden furniture, cleaning those gutters - it can all be done before the cold sets in to last!

You can also begin preparing for next year, by planting any autumn bulbs to bloom in the spring.

And let's think about our feathered friends. As their food sources begin to dwindle, let's look out for them and replenish any bird feeders!

FOXGLOVE CARE GUIDE 🌸

Foxgloves make for a great beginner plant - they're generally low maintenance, and can live out a large portion of their life cycle without any intervention from a gardener!

They make a great addition to a cottage garden themed space, just make sure to handle with care and wash your hands after handling them 🌸

BANANA PLANTS 🍌

The perfect way to make a big statement in your garden! These plants can grow up to 3 meters tall, and boast large, vibrant leaves that can even be reddish depending on the variant!

While they require a bit of winter time TLC and loving care, the plant will thank you for it by thriving during those warm summer months!

TREE FERNS: they look daunting, but they don't have to be!

Tree ferns make for a great statement piece in the garden. Their large size and beautiful vibrant leaves make them a very unique plant in the gardening world. However, it's easy to feel intimidated by them due to this size and the maintenance that comes with them.

However, caring for a tree fern doesn't have to be a challenge. We've put together this care guide that goes through the basics of tree fern care!

Looking for a fun family DIY this summer? Making bird seed cakes is a classic, and the birds will always appreciate it! Offering food to your local wildlife means you can attract interesting new birds to your garden. Furthermore, as we start to enter autumn and the colder months, natural food sources for birds will become scarce - this is a great way to help our feathered friends out!

If you want to make these, we have everything you need (besides the suet and moulds!) to make these in-store. We carry a wide variety of bird seed at an affordable price!

🔨 Garden DIY: Upcycled Planters!

Make the most of your broken or unwanted items, and turn them into funky planters for your space!

Find old, unwanted or broken objects - or even bottles or cans, and drill holes into the bottom for drainage! If you can't drill into them, add some stones or pebbles at the bottom to help with drainage. Then plant up your planters with the flowers or plants of your choice (Ideally from us 😉)

This makes for a great family DIY too, and is a great way to reuse materials and prevent waste!

🌹 Climbing Roses

In store, we have a variety of climbing roses in different colours - perfect for any garden! Just because they're a classic, doesn't make them boring ❤️

Did you know? The oldest rose fossil was found in Colorado, USA and dated back to over 35 million years ago - Seems like the rose is here to stay!
