Quick repair this afternoon without the need to replace the door. Area still needs paint ready for a hook to go over it and hide the repair. I needed to reinforce the area.

A very happy customer after I was asked to hang mirrors, coat hooks and shelves as well as repair a broken door hinge. Always use good screws and the door will never drop. Not much to post, picture wise. However keeps it active. Thank you.

Today’s little task was to make good the opening to a septic tank after the original man hole cover had rusted and broke in two.

Replacing like for like is very expensive and so to keep costs down I used a piece of OSB painted in bitumen and then covered in roofing felt.

Pair of handles and good to go. No more over filling when it rains. Easier access when it’s time to empty.

Well I am glad this is done, not the best day to lay a floor due to the heat in the room.

I posted a while ago laying a laminate floor in a hallway and kitchen. Today this has been extended into the lounge.

Slight problem when it came to lining up between to doors as no thresholds were required. Just a bit more to do as I ran out of boards. Then other trades will come in to fix skirts and doors which have already been arranged. Thanks.

Second job of the day was to install a house alarm system with various sensors. Never done it before and the customer was keen to get his home protected. I was also able to advise the best place to put sensors having knowledge from my former profession.

Not much to show picture wise however I have taken a few. Thanks.

Long but productive day. First job was to replace the complete toilet cistern, repositioning and fitting a new one.

Then improve a piece of trim which ran along the bottom of the bath panel. The existing MDF skirting the bathroom fitter installed had blown and pushed everything out. So using a length of composite fascia board and some profile cutting at end makes it look like new.

Latest work which has been done over several days in recent weeks. This wasn’t just decorating a bedroom, it needed a lot of preparation especially in areas where the original old wall paper had come away due to damp.

So rather than stripping the paper off, it can be repaired and filled. I will show the before and after pictures to give you an idea. Initially the room was going to be all white. It was decided to have a feature wall in blue, Some woodwork still needs painting before carpet is fitted.

Other jobs required, hooks in the garage, new worktop, light fitting and finish painting in the stair well after a landing conversion was completed. Thanks.

I was asked to replace all three hinges on a heavy UPVC front door. The original hinges had all snapped leaving it impossible to open the door.

Replacing with heavy duty hinges had its own problems. The customer is very happy with the result. Don’t rush to contact a specialist window company when it can be done at a fraction of the cost.

So while the sun is out I had to make safe the edge blocks on this step. Removed and dressed, clearing all the old cement then laying a fresh bed of mortar. Making sure it’s all level and pointed, so hopefully will last and be safer to step on. Replaced some worn out fence panel cappings and stuck a wheel on a log store door..Thanks.

Just a quick job this morning hanging a Tv and floating shelves. Always take care when drilling and use decent fixings, as ones provided are not always adequate. Thanks

Today’s job was to dismantle a shower and replace a damaged plastic strip and clean and re seal. Then general improve the look.

Today I extended the height of a neighbour’s fence using trellis.

Due to the fence posts being concrete and preventing gaps between each panel, batons need fixing first to the fence to support the trellis securely.

Latest work was laying a new floor in a hallway and kitchen, to eventually lead into the lounge. The floor needed to be prepared and although slightly uneven in places I had no need to screed, keeping the cost down for the customer. 👍🏻

Over the last couple of days I was asked to improve the look of a garden fence. The borders were established and made it difficult to fence behind.

As the existing fence wasn’t particularly strong, removing it was not an option.

New posts and framing was built just in front of the existing one. The option to use feather edge strips was the best.

As you can see the before and after pictures show not only an improved look but also privacy. Thank you.

Even on a Sunday I am always willing to help out when I can. The customer had a few things to sort from a very loose mixer tap, which in itself is always difficult to tighten especially when the sink is fitted and cupboard under the sink is smaller than my head.

Also after they had several attempts to fit a curtain rail it was decided the only way to secure it was using a wooden batton. The walls had none or very little integrity. At least they can now hang the curtains up. Thank you.

Following on from the laminate floor I fitted in the down stairs hallway my customer asked me to extend it into the lounge without a door threshold.

Skirting to be fitted over the existing one and trim around the hearth.

Job for today was installing a number of roller blinds in a conservatory. Ideal job for the winter..🥵

I haven’t posted for a while so here is a job I did a couple of weeks ago. I was asked to tile a kitchen which had a number of issues. These included replacing damaged plaster board and tiling across a void which had been boxed in previously.

The images show before and after. All the electrical work was carried out by a professional. The customer was more than happy with the result. So was I as it was my first attempt.

This afternoons little job was a gutter clean and fit hedgehog roll which prevents build up of leaves and allows rain water to drain.

Another full day, this time just hanging pictures, shelves and even repairing a wall clock. Also re seals in two showers. Pointless taking photos of all the jobs just examples of the re seal etc before and after.

Photos from Let Matt Fix It, Handyman Services's post 08/04/2024

So this is part of the last post I did re the bath and seal. The bath taps had been changed and a re seal at the back of the sink, before and after. Pictures show the old bath taps and pipe work which was seized at the threads so removed and flex hoses fitted.

Photos from Let Matt Fix It, Handyman Services's post 02/04/2024

Today my customer wanted new sink and bath taps, but more importantly the seal around the bath was leaking and problematic. Once the trim had been removed, time was spent cleaning away the old silicone and replacing with new.

Todays task I was asked to remove a very old area of boxing which hid unsightly pipes. Upon its removal I was faced with damp and parts of the ceiling falling down.

The customer wanted it re boxed but neatly installed. Problems with the ceiling and having nothing to fix into, I then used the framing to brace the old lath and plaster.

The gaps had been filled after it was installed and will be painted to match the walls

Photos from Let Matt Fix It, Handyman Services's post 26/02/2024

Todays job I was asked to make good a very water damaged MDF bath panel and re seal. The opening was an odd size so I needed to bespoke a panel and used a kitchen pelmet at the base to make up the height.

The customer is very happy with the result and won’t have the problem again.

Photos from Let Matt Fix It, Handyman Services's post 24/02/2024

Job this morning was to improve the look of a shower tray seal. The shower panel had began to delaminate at the base and it would have a mammoth job to replace.

Although the customer had no signs of water leaking through to the floor, it has clearly caused some concern.

Although masking tape is not always used. I wanted the neatest line I could get.

Photos from Let Matt Fix It, Handyman Services's post 23/02/2024

Todays job was to replace a rotten gate post which had caused the metal gate to drop and not open. Once the hole was re dug the new post was able to fit back into the original concrete hole and more post fix added. Having limited space the block sets were removed, cleaned and replaced.

The gate was reattached with some minor adjustments and the is good to go.

Latest job. I was asked to lay laminate flooring in a down stairs toilet and hallway. Once fitted new skirting fixed into place and was designed to fit over the existing boards. The flooring will then lead into the lounge with no door threshold.

Photos from Let Matt Fix It, Handyman Services's post 12/02/2024

During the last week I was asked to give this bathroom a make over. This included repairs to cracks and paint strip due to the damp and humidity from it being a bathroom.

I was also asked to replace the vinyl flooring, which was my first attempt and not the easiest of rooms. If you decide to have a go I used the existing flooring as a template.

Walls and Ceiling repainted along with the woodwork. Also added was a new bathroom cabinet.

Photos from Let Matt Fix It, Handyman Services's post 29/01/2024

Todays job was to put right shelving that had failed in the fixings as well as adding more.

Positioned as a focal point in the customers Beauty treatment room. Exiting holes filled and mirror re positioned. A small job but worth it.

Photos from Let Matt Fix It, Handyman Services's post 24/01/2024

One of my first jobs for the New Year, I was asked to hang a couple of Televisions as well as mirrors and pictures. Alway take care when fixing around sockets etc. However another happy customer.
