Before setting a goal
Setting realistic expectations is one of the most influential factors for success and eventual long term coherence.
Too many people, influencers so called fitness professionals “Sell” an easy lifestyle change or 10 week body transformation. And FYI They don’t eat that in a day or actually do every workout they actual post.
What I see everywhere in my daily life, social media, even talking with my own clients most people they don’t want “potential answers” but rather THE ANSWER and expect results without it being hard,
The truth is you can’t predict chaos, it’s difficult but we have a plan, realise that flexibility often determines its success and find out what works best for us.
It’s nice to finally have the weather to get the shutter doors open.
Knee Position & Squatting
For some reason within the fitness industry it’s a long held belief that your knees can’t surpass the toes. This is a short caption of a very long explanation of squatting biomechanics.
During a “Balanced Squat” it is acceptable for your knees to travel forward. In some instances it is unavoidable for people with long femur bones.
The video below is as close to a balanced squat as I can maintain. The (RED LINE) represents the bar path I’m trying to maintain throughout the lift in order to hold a balanced squat.
If you notice in the video I start with a hip hinge (flexing of the hips) not just thrusting the knees forward to start the movement. If you start the squat thrusting the knees forward you push the weight towards the front of your feet thus breaking down the “proper” squatting technique.
We should actually sit back into our squat FIRST (Hip flexion) pushing bum backwards, which will allow for a more well balanced squat and maintaining the weight over the mid foot.
Performing the squat with different bar positions ie (Low or High bar) can also change the position of the knees through full depth of a squat.
Exercise is more to do with context rather than what’s right or wrong. It is individual to each person/athlete. However, the fundamentals remain the same.
There are loads of road blocks ⛔️that get in the way for you to reach your goals.
But circumstances and situations don’t dictate your long term results.

Sweet & Sour Cod Fillets 🍲
Ingredients 📝 (Serves 2)
500g Chopped Cod Fillets
2 Onions
1 Red Pepper
1 Green Pepper
1 Can Of Pineapple Chunks
1 tbsp Olive Oil
1 tbsp Corn Flour
1 tbsp Ketchup
1 tbsp Dried Basil 🌿
Salt & Pepper to taste
Cooking Instructions 🧑🍳
📌Season the cod with basil, salt & pepper, & pan cook for 4-5mins on medium heat.
📌In a separate pan cook your chopped onions,peppers (5 mins) once cooked add in the pineapple,ketchup & 3-4 tbsp of pineapple juice from the tin & let that simmer for 5mins.
📌 mix the flour with another 2-3 tbsp of pineapple juice & add to the pan, then finally add the cod fillets add let simmer for a further 3mins
(Serve hot)

Calorie Counting/Tracking is our practice!!
When you start tracking for a while you learn what foods are high in protein/fats & carbs. What foods are a good source of fibre & micronutrients. You realise how many calories are in your favourite foods whether it’s a takeaway or from your favourite restaurant. You start to understand what actual portion sizes look like and stop falling victim to the health halo effect of certain foods because some so called celebrity is selling another 6 week lose 12 stone diet plan!!
Tracking leads to better understanding of foods it provides you with the “experience” you need to eventually stop tracking and “Eat intuitively”
You “don’t” have to track calories but you can definitely benefit from tracking them for a short period of time.
It’s been a good first week back in the gym, it’s been busy but great to see all my team after what feels like forever.
