So happy to have grown my sewing machine collection with one that can do buttonholes! 🤩

To lapel or not to lapel, that is the question. 🧐🧐

We lifted the shoulders and reshaped the armhole, carefully unpicking and restitching the lace to the bodice. 🪡🌸

Steph’s dress was certainly meant to be, as it fitted her like a glove aside from a few minor tweaks! 🪡

We lifted the shoulders, unpicking and restitching the lace to keep it seamless. We also replaced some of the elastic button holes that had snapped along the centre back. ❤️

Sustainability Sunday 🌍♻️💚

ALT promotes repairing and repurposing old clothing in order for people to act in a more sustainable way when it comes to fashion. ♻️ There is no job too big or too small, and we love to get creative when fixing and altering old clothing! 🧵🪡

Benefits of repairing and repurposing your old clothes:
💚 Reduces the amount of clothes going to landfill, which at present stands at 92 million tonnes each year. This is equivalent to 1 truck of clothing being thrown onto landfill every second!
💚 Less costly than buying new clothes.
💚 You can keep your favourite items of clothing for longer.
💚 Redesigning clothes creates a one of a kind garment that no one else will have in their wardrobe!
💚 If your repair stops you from replacing clothing you will reduce the environmental impact of making clothes. This includes reducing carbon emissions, water use and water and land pollution.

Trouser width adjustment and hem shortening 🤠

We’ve added an extra panel to the side seam to make the dress bigger and a more comfortable fit for the bridesmaid.💐💒

Did you know we can make and alter curtains? 🙌🏼🙌🏼 We have altered this pair by shortening the width and the length. The curtains are puddled at the customers request, keeping the length slightly longer for a gather across the floor. 😃

ALT altered the wedding dress, taking up the hem and reducing the bodice. We also altered the bridesmaid dresses by lifting the shoulders and taking up the hems. 🧵🪡

Georgia said ‘You did such a perfect job of them all, we were comfortable all day! I couldn’t be happier.’

This dress had some holes burnt into the mesh layer and our customer thought it was beyond repair. But we managed to successfully revive the dress by adding some extra sparkles, ready to see in the new year! 🥳🎉🎊

We patched over the holes with a black fabric and stitched sequins over the top to match the existing design. We think it turned out great!✨💫💖

Strap shortening, bodice reduction through the side and back seams, hem shortening 💍✨

This dress was too short in length so we added a panel at the waist seam, using fabric from the belt. This not only lengthens the dress but also means the waist seam isn’t sitting too high on the body. ✨⭐️💫
