We are currently experiencing some issues with our phone lines. When you call you will not hear any recorded messages. The phones are still being answered. Alternatively please submit a query through the econsult app. Thanks James

GP surgeries are closed from 23-26 December and 30 December – 2 January. If you have a non-urgent health issue over the festive holidays, please wait until your GP surgery reopens or contact a local community pharmacy. Pharmacies can provide advice, support and treatment for minor ailments such as a cough, cold or sore throat, stomach complaints, or aches and pains. You can check pharmacy opening times at http://tinyurl.com/fm95nxkv

www.nhsinform.scot also offers a quick and easy way to find answers to most common health questions, and includes symptom checkers.

If you think you need A&E, but it’s not life-threatening, call NHS 24 on 111 day or night.

If it’s an emergency, you should call 999 or go to A&E. Please do not attend A&E with a problem that you would normally see your GP with. This will allow A&E to concentrate on patients with emergency conditions.

Got COVID symptoms? If you're otherwise fit and healthy, there's usually no need to see a doctor. The best thing to do is stay at home and get plenty of rest. You should wear loose, comfortable clothing, drink plenty of fluids and take paracetamol for a high temperature or aches.

Stay off work or school until you're feeling better. For most people, this will take up to a week.

Visit www.keepwellinwinter.scot.nhs.uk for advice on how to care for yourself at home.
