I have contacted all clients who are booked in tomorrow...the salon will be closed tomorrow due to sickness.
This isn't an easy decision to make when your self employed but hopefully another full day's rest and I will be back. I will be in touch with clients when I feel better. Sorry again.

New to Smiths Hair Studio!

ASP Super Smooth System.

I done it on Andrea Waddell about 4 weeks ago but the dummy I am forgot pictures so, my lovely client Ruth was my next model to try this system on.

Now Ruth's hair naturally is not overly dry condition wise but quite big and frizzy. She says herself in the mornings and after blasting her hair dry she resembles as Hagrid 🤣🤦‍♀️ her words, not mine! So I thought Ruth would be the perfect model to try this on.
The pictures say it all!! And her messages afterwards too!

If this is something your interested in let me know so I can see how much interest there will be into getting this in the salon.

Prices will be from £125 and this will include the aftercare Shampoo and Conditioner 💜 xx

Most of you know that I've been following Broxburn Athletic FC recently. Thanks to my dad, I'm the official sponsor of their player, Bryan Mwangi, who has been an asset to the team so far!
He was Man of The Match on Saturday. Dad and I went through to the game.
Broxburn winning 4-3.
And scoring the 1st goal of last night's game, Broxburn winning 3-0.

Don't worry tho, hibs will always be in my blood 😜.

All the Teddy's have now been paid for and I can reveal...the Teddy's name is Queenie!
The winner is....Wendy!
I have contacted Wendy to tell her the good news and I knew there was a reason why I loved this lassie to bits. Wendy has kindly and very generously donated her winnings to the go fund me. So £200 has now been donated to Jaxon McKenzies Go Fund Me page.
Thank you to everyone for taking part and helping raise money for a special wee boy and his family.

Well done to all the businesses who are taking part.

Broxburn Bowling Club have a quiz night and bowling day planned too. It's been lovely to see a community come together!

Please pop in to Guess the Name and pay if you can as I am busy today until 1pm then closed until Tuesday.

Broxburn Community Fire Station have organised two fundraising events to raise money for a young local boy, Jaxon McKenzie, a son of one of there own fire fighters, who sadly at the age of 6 has been diagnosed with a terminal illness that has affected both his and his familys life.

The next fundraising event will take place at Broxburn Fire Station with a 12 hour car wash on Saturday, 24th August. Please, if you can, go along to support.

As a community, there has been raffles and fundraisers going on. Bonnie Quines are doing a fantastic raffle to win an amazing hamper. Broxburn bowling club are doing a bowling day in Sept are ones I know from the top of my head.

I'm doing a Guess the Name of the Teddy when a lucky winner can win £100 voucher to use in the salon and £100 donation to go fund me for Jaxon 💙

It will be £5 an entry, and this will be for existing clients only. The reason for this is it's only fair as I couldn't guarantee a space for a new client, unfortunately.

Social media has not been a nice place lately...so much hatred. It was lovely seeing how a wee community was coming together in aid of raising funds for this amazing wee boy Jaxon.

What's the difference between a cut and blow dry and dry cut?

I get asked this quite a lot. I also get a few clients wanting just a dry cut when they need a cut and blow dry.

This has nothing to do with the cost. It comes down to the style and time.

If you have one length cut and just want a trim and your hair is not too thick. Very basic cut, you can do a dry cut.
If you want layers, thinned, cut into, shape to the face etc (a style), you need a cut and blow dry.

When you do get just a basic trim, your hair needs to be clean too as to ensure the cut is straight, the straighteners get used to smooth it over first. Heat and dirty hair don't go 🤢.

There is some "styles" I can manage as a dry cut but some need to be washed and dried. If you are unsure please just ask. And please ask before you book in! It won't be the first time I've had to just end up giving someone a trim who's wanted a style because they've booked I'm the wrong appointment.

A wee appreciation post!

Nowadays, most clients come in with a photo from a social media platform, and yes, it certainly helps us get a visual of what you're after, but SO many colours now aren't just your average set of foils. We're talking Face Framing, Tip Outs, Teasy lights, Root Melts and Toners. A lot of hairdressers now work on a 1 2 1 basis due to the time these colours take.

I myself enjoy watching content like Day With Me in the Salon. But there's always that bit I wish they would add how long it took them.

This post does that. I have a few clients wanting to transition to their natural grey hair, and I feel bad saying I just don't have the time, and this is why! This transformation took 8 hours!

I totally appreciate that you guys just see a picture and say I want that, but when you're a 1 man band with a full column 5 days a week, it's not always possible, unfortunately.

Obv I do struggle to say no but with all these big colours becoming more and more popular please don't think I don't want to do it when I say no, I simply don't have 5/6 hours free to do them.

Shower is working but very temperamental so taking slightly longer to shampoo etc. New shower getting fitted on Friday late afternoon.

My shower is only lukewarm today! I have called the electrician who is going to try and come out today at some point. I have contacted the clients who are booked in today and will need to play the rest of the week by ear unfortunately.

Thurs 11th July at 2:30pm Cut and Blow-dry, wet/dry cut or wash and blow dry.
4:30pm wet/dry cut only.
OR
Top foils/roots and cut and blow dry at 2:30pm.

Good afternoon everyone! Sorry for the radio silence! It's been busy since I've been back to work. I will pop up my July Availability tomorrow.

Missing this view every morning tho. Amazing what the sea air and just listening to the waves does for you and can I just say Thank you all so much for getting no messages whilst I was away!

I know its been a repeat status but the amount of messages I still get when I'm off is unreal lol.

I'm hoping to get finished sharp today as it's fauldhouse gala day. So there's every chance I'm away by 11:30!
