On the 9th and 10th of March weekend, we are hosting a Cardiac Screening Event for young individuals at Broughton Pavilion, this is all thanks to a resident who extensively fundraised following the tragic loss of her son to a sudden cardiac arrest aged just 18.

What is the purpose of cardiac screening?
Cardiac abnormalities can sometimes occur without symptoms. Screening with an electrocardiogram (ECG) is designed to identify individuals with heart muscle disorders or heart electrical faults.

Is screening only for athletes?
At CRY, they advocate that all young people aged 14-35 should have access to screening. Cardiac incidents can happen at any time and are not limited to intense sports activities. They can occur during simple activities like jogging in the park or even while sleeping. The screening program is not exclusive to athletes.
