Head and Home Decluttering, Bungay Videos

Videos by Head and Home Decluttering in Bungay. Mental health professional equipping people with skills to find balance in their lives.

It always feels controversial to say this for some reason, yet it seems obvious, we don’t want to be setting ourselves “Dead Person’s Goals”.

What we mean by this is that if a dead person can achieve our goal, more effectively and more consistently than we can, we need to stop and think about what we want and need as a living person.

Classic goals I’ve heard so far this week:
🔹 To eat less junk food
🔹 Not to work at night
🔹 To lose weight
🔹 To give up (insert choice here: chocolate, swearing, biscuits)

All of the above are examples of dead person goals.

To set your living person goals think about what you will be doing instead of what you won’t be doing:
I’m going to eat 5 portions of fruit / veg
I’m going to make time in the evening to spend with family
I’m going to go for a walk when I get home to reduce my stress (rather than reaching for the chocolate).

So- use this as your prompt 4 days into the new year to check in with your goals and ask yourself if they need shaping up into something a living person wants to do?

As always if you need a hand with this or have any questions pop me a message of comment below 🙂

A brief update on availability (the 60 second time limit really forces me to stay brief!). While I might not be so present on Instagram I am still very much around. Often the first thing I recommend is, if you can attend an in person group as not everyone can, to begin with the mindfulness sessions to start equipping you with the skills you need, rather than jumping straight into individual work. It saves you time and money and also means that you have an opportunity to get a feel for how I work and consider for yourself if we will be a good match. You can attend these sessions without having to squeeze another conversation into busy diaries though a brief chat can often be useful so you know what you’re signing up for. The next course starts on the 19th November at 10:00-11:30 and can be booked directly with me or online through the link in my bio. If you want to book in for a telephone/online/in person conversation about what I offer and how I might be able to help you then get in touch by message or email. ➡️ [email protected] #bungay #suffolk #southnorfolk #harleston #beccles #lowestoft #diss #MentalHealthProfessional #SkillsNotPills #SkillsForLife #LearnMindfulness #Psychoeducation

Learn to love your dandelions… Radical Acceptance does not mean approval but it does mean really really truly acknowledging where we are right now so we can make the best of the situation we are in and know the options available to us to change or solve the problem. #MindfulnessSkills #RadicalAcceptance #Dandelions #DBTSkills #acceptance #Change

An unplanned update about the #project333 Challenge. Unplanned because if I didn’t do it right now I might have forgotten about it again for months 🙈😬 Officially I think this would have finished for me at the start of May. The end came and went without ceremony, or even a nod, I had forgotten about it and the clothes tucked away in a box under the bed! They’ve (almost all) gone to better homes and it has certainly helped me realise actually how few clothes we need and wear. I made a video as I would also love to hear your experiences if you’ve done this challenge- were you counting down the days or like me didn’t even notice the passing of time? Is it something you’d like to try, perhaps on a smaller scale, but don’t know where to start? Get in touch and I’m happy to help think about what it is that we really need and what might get in the way! #project333challenge #OnlyWhatYouNeed #PracticeWhatYouPreach #Declutter #MakeSpace #MakeTime #ReduceDecisionFatigue

Stress workshop this Friday @livewellwithleigh - book through Leigh to reserve your place. We will be talking about what symptoms of stress we might notice and various ways to manage stress in the short and long term. We’ll also all be drawing our stress buckets to help us think about what’s going on right now. As always, no personal information or situations need to be shared. It’s about coming together and learning. #stress #bungay #suffolk #LearningTogether #StressManagement #psychoeducation #WellBeing #MakeTime #MakeTimeForYou

When you do your best work in the morning… work in the morning! I’ve been loving having @jools.holland.official on in the background this Saturday morning while I’ve been working on the packs for the session with @livewellwithleigh. You don’t have to wait until 9:00 or later to start your day if you’re someone who is most motivated in the mornings. Equally, if you’re more energetic and focused in the evenings make use of that and plan what you can do later in the day. When I talk about work, I’m talking about those tasks that need motivation and enthusiasm. Maybe for you it’s decluttering, sorting, gardening, decorating, going to the gym… do them at the time that works for you rather than the time we think we “should” do them. #boogieintotheweekend #motivation #dowhatworksforyou #smallbusiness #workingweekends #startnow The song is “Rockin’ the Boogie” for anyone who wants to find it!

My quick update on the project 333 challenge and the first thoughts I’ve been having a couple of weeks in. This was also a practice to stick to the 1 minute time limit for videos too! April still feels a long way off so it may be that my thoughts change dramatically over the next few months still. #project333 #makespace #maketime #personalchallenge #minimalism #headandhomedecluttering

I hope you had a lovely Christmas and a happy new year to you! Today I’ve recorded a quick (ish!) video about the mindfulness workshops starting in January. I will be running both in person workshops at @hspacemovement (depending on Covid rules) and also online workshops. Get in touch on here/by email/through my website to: - register for a space for in person January workshops (9th January running for 3 weeks). - register for a virtual workshop (23rd January for 3 weeks) - pre-book for February / March workshops (dates available on request) - ask any questions #mindfulnessdbt #skillsworkshop #skillsforlife #presentmomentreminder #presentmoment #bungay #suffolk #norfolk #mentalwellness #headandhomedecluttering #stayingwell Ps. If you made it to the end of my first video, thank you! I tried to stick to 2 minutes, which seemed reasonable in my mind, but that didn’t quite go to plan 🙂 there’s so much to say about this topic so really do get in touch with any questions you might have or any worries about attending as we can work something out around them.
