🍂 Hello September 🍂

True beauty isn’t just skin deep; it’s the radiant light that shines from within. As the leaves begin to change and fall, let’s also shed the layers that hide our authentic selves.

Tag someone who inspires you with their beautiful soul, and let’s kick off this month on a beautiful note!

We convince ourselves that life will be better after we get married, have a baby, then another. Then we are frustrated that the kids aren't old enough, and we'll be more content when they are.
After that, we're frustrated that we have teenagers to deal with. We will certainly be happy when they are out of that stage. We tell ourselves that our life will be complete when our partner gets his or her act together when we get a nicer car, are able to go on a nice holiday, when we retire.
The truth is, there's no better time to be happy than right now. If not now, when?
Your life will always be filled with challenges.
It's best to admit this to yourself and decide to be happy anyway.
A quote comes from Alfred D. Souza. He said,
"For a long time it had seemed to me that life was about to begin - real life. But there was always some obstacle in the way, something to be gotten through first, some unfinished business, time still to be served, or a debt to be paid. Then life would begin. At last it dawned on me that these obstacles were my life."
This perspective has helped me to see that there is no way to happiness. Happiness is the way.
So, treasure every moment that you have and treasure it more because you shared it with someone special, special enough to spend your time...and remember that time waits for no one.
So, stop waiting until you lose ten pounds, until you gain ten pounds, until you have kids, until your kids leave the house, until you start work, until you retire, until you get married, until you get divorced, until Friday night, until Sunday morning, until you get a new car or home, until your car or home is paid off, until spring, until summer, until winter, until your song comes on, until you've had a drink.... there is no better time than right now to be happy.
Happiness is a journey, not a destination.
Work like you don't need money,
Love like you've never been hurt,
And dance like no one's watching.

I love this quote 🤍

My classes are all about exploring looking inside of yourselves to see where you are at in that moment.

It can be quite scary and something that you may be afraid of doing alone. My classes are a safe and nurturing way of helping you get there.

Want to come along to class?

The breath is the foundation of our yoga and life practice. Conscious breathing draws us into the moment. It slows us down. It takes us out of our very busy heads and puts us into our bodies.

When we take our poses one breath at a time, we realise our ability to stay in discomfort. And, it transfers off of our mats in the same way.

However, here’s what we need to know- it’s imperfect and that’s ok. We will have days where we can reign our minds in with an inhale and an exhale. There are days that our minds are wild horses. And all of that is ok because mindfulness is the awareness of it and the awareness is enough.

"No matter what we eat, how much we exercise, how resilient our genes are, how skinny or young or wise we are - none of it will matter unless we’re breathing correctly." ~Breath, by James Nestor

If you're a bit of a geek like me 🤓 and enjoy learning about how much our breath affects our day to day living I highly recommend you put this book on your reading list if you haven't already read it.

If you have what did you think of it?

Or, if you have any book recommendations about the breath I'd love to hear, comment below ⬇️ 🙏🏻

Just Breathe...

Conscious breathing in yoga helps distribute the Prana (life force, vitality) through the body. In yoga philosophy, Prana is the body’s main source of energy.

Breathwork or Pranayama in Sanskrit. Prana translates from Sanskrit as ‘life force,’ and Yama translates as ‘control.’ So when we practice breath work in class we are practicing how to control our breath consciously.

This review is from my 1:1 student, Full Google review below ⬇️

Yoga with Carly is a great experience. Carly is a sensitive listener and put together a program designed especially to take into account my back issues. Carly is warm and welcoming and is great at explaining the bigger yoga picture. I could not recommend yoga with Carly more highly.

Thank you for your kind words Richard 🙏🏻

It's easy to get caught up in worries of the future or feeling sad and depressed about the past. Yoga helps remind us to focus on where we are in this present moment and to be proud of how far we've come.

Have a great Monday 💪🏻

You are unique, worthy and amazing. Happy July.

The start of a new month, a new chapter, a chance to embrace growth.

What’s happening for you this month?

01/07/2024

It's natural for us as humans to analyse the way that we measure up to the others around us, but that doesn't mean we have to allow it to influence the ways we view ourselves.

Jealousy can be a very hard issue to deal with, but when we truly find self love and find contentment in our own presence, the approval or thoughts of others about us and our lives won't affect us as much.

This is something that has helped me in my own yoga journey, and I hope that it helps you in some small way as well.

Sending you all SO much love,

Have a great Monday 💪🏻

Just Breathe....

You take a breath from the moment you are born until the moment you take your last breath and pass away.

But are you ever consciously aware of your breath? Our breath is part of our autonomic nervous system meaning we don't have to think about breathing, it happens naturally, but we are able to consciously control when we want to.

Breathing is a core element of yoga practice. Yogic breathing, or pranayama, refers to conscious and controlled breathing.

The breath aspect of yoga is known as pranayama in Sanskrit. “Prana” means “life force”, while “ayama” means “stretching.” Yoga practitioners use the breath to calm the mind, and the physical postures help them to focus on the breath.

The breath can teach us a lot about how we are physically and emotionally. How is your breath today? Have you noticed it at all? Are you breathing in to your chest or your belly?

24/06/2024

Life is busy, we rush here, there and everywhere and don't often take a pause to feel our breath, let alone tune in to how we're feeling. When we slow down just enough we tune in to our inner world and start to become curious about who we are and how we show up in the world.

Savasana or co**se pose (seen here in this photo) gives us the space in our yoga practice to do just this. Sometimes its easy to lay there and tune in, other times its bloody hard! Usually seen as the most easiest pose of all as its the least challenging physically but for the mind it can be one of the most challenging.

Have a great Monday 💪🏻
