I've been working on a good sized project, hence why it's been quiet on here, however we are nearly there and pics, to follow.
I don't think you'll be disappointed 😉😉😉

Here's a job I did last week for the carpet co in Skipton.

To the eye it looks a nice simple job ✅️
However it consisted of -
Uplifting an old karndean floorcovering
Uplifting of old screed
New plyboard
And 2 coats of new screed
To get the end results.
Morale of the story?
Your only as good as your prep!
Get the prep right, and the fitting of the flooring looks after itself 👌
If this was prepped wrongly, no matter how easy it was it would have looked a total mess!!!!

Sounds basic, but prep is key 💪

Ceramic tiles 😩
underfloor heating 😩
Plyboard 😩
hundreds of screws 😩
All had to come up!!!

18mm ply 😁
Layer of screed 😁
New floorcovering 😁
All went down!!!

Flooring can be a labour of love and to get the desired finish you've got to put the hard yards in, and that's what I did on this job.

Out with the old + in with the new 👍

Just been sent these 'before + after pics' from a customer and friends Jodie + Michael.

Answer - nothing! They still exist 🤣 as you can see in the pics.
These were done last week and gave me a nice change to what I've been upto recently! (Although I did sneak a plank design in too 😉)
They were karndean - opus with design strips + karndean - da vinci with design strips.

Nice job to end the week.

Straight lay design, with a new matwell frame and coir matting!

Do you know what screed is?
What does it do?
What's the purpose of it?
Do I have to screed My floor?
How long does it take to dry?

Well ........

Screed is a smoothing compound which has self levelling qualities which help to flatten a floor and provide a smooth surface on which to apply your new floorcovering.

Whenever there is a solid subfloor (concrete, asphalt) a screed needs applying to make the subfloor suitable for a new floorcovering to be applied.
Screed can be applied over timber substrates too by applying a flexible screed which has fibres in it to allow for movement in the floor without it cracking/breaking up.

In most cases screed has a general drying time of about 3hrs. This can vary dependant on room conditions, type of screed and temperature

I get asked these questions on a regular basis so I hope this answers any questions you may have regarding applying screed and it's qualities.

In seriousness it does make my life easier when they are off but they don't have to be taken off. These were off as it's a full refurbishment going on.
Anyway product was karndean van gogh herringbone with no border, to lounge + kitchen
Prep was screed.
Couldn't get a good pic of kitchen as it was full of kitchen stuff! 🤣🤷‍♂️.

No? Fear not in these pics you'll see and understand what it consists of.
For me it's a personal favourite, different to herringbone but still looks great!
This job was a hallway on 9mm ply with a 6mm design strip border.

LONDON BABY!!!!
yes that's right last week I travelled down to London to complete a job for a company based in Tottenham.

I'll travel anywhere in the UK if the job is right and that's why I paid a visit to the capital last week.

The job was 65m2 in amtico spacia straight lay plank, prepped with screed. Done and dusted in 2 days.

Of course there was a little time for some sightseeing mainly for the wife + son but also me too 😁😁.
All in all it was a good job to take on and complete.

Job done ✅️

This time it was invictus parquet on ply to a landing! Yes landing.
LVT really does go in any floor space in the house.

Finished off with a Ali wrap plate with the flooring as the insert.
Looks mega if you ask me 👌.

This was amtico form dusted oak with a 3mm border to a back lounge.

As you'll see in the pictures it's on ply, but at the doorway there was a slight incline (slope) where the transition from old room to new meets. This needed attention with screed to flatten out the said 'slope'

Really pleased with the end result. 👌

it's been bloody ages since I last fit a tile effect floor, but this week I completed another for some friends of mine andy + jodie.

Hall,kitchen,diner,utility,wc.
Prepped with screed
Nice, crisp, clinical finish 👌👌

Well my customers this week were truly shocked at the finished results of their new floors.
Both herringbones

1 in a hallway with a 3mm border

The other in a kitchen also with a 3mm border fit on behalf of pendle village mill.
Both looked fab!

I actually installed a floor that wasn't herringbone 🤣🤣

All jokes aside i installed this island limestone design from Karndean Designflooring UK last week in a kitchen and Conservatory on behalf of Inspired flooring and this is how it turned out.

It's a design that needs good concentration to complete but the end results are another lovely floorcovering to transform another customer's house.
