Zafroz Bakery
Burnley based microbakery. Handmade bread using organic stoneground flour
There are many reasons for the above post. But the main reason posting this is to add to the attempt to show there is an unheard narrative. A narrative not acknowledged at all, just a side note at best or is given as facts (no emotive content with it)
ALL innocent loss of life should be condemned, doesn’t matter what side, race or religion. This didn’t start in a vacuum (it never does). Are all means justified? I DON’T think so. But to deny where it started is immoral and illogical in itself. It started with an occupation and the daily humiliation, brutality and persecution that has existed ever since. It won’t end with the collective punishment of over 1 million people, won’t end by denying them food and water (a war crime endorsed by our top politicians right and left), won’t end by forcing them out of the tiny bit of remaining land they weren’t forced out of already (Are THESE means justified? ) It will only end with peace and a just peace free of humiliation. Which only one side can give.
They won’t get that just peace. They will get scraps if they even get that. If you are allowed to commit whatever you want without being held accountable in any way shape or form to international law (past and present) then why would you give anything of substance when making so called peace.
So after all of this, this tragedy will continue. More deaths, more terror, more innocents of ALL sides lost. A tragedy that didn’t have to happen in the first place and a tragedy that could have been solved very easily by just upholding the same standards that everyone else is held to. People and groups may come and go but the narrative whether you want to hear it or not will never be wiped out and one day I think they will attain real freedom.
Names, numbers and stories given to some just numbers to others. For the so called ‘other’ narrative see

You may feel they reflect one side only but the other ‘side’ is all available in the main stream media.
First catering event done, these were sent to a do, cheers for giving it a try 👍 good learning experience too!
Morning, some bread…and some punkish looking pastries (could have maybe had a longer prove) going out this morning. Pastries available at Plentiful Wholefoods in
Cheers
Pain au chocolat (e) and croissants available today for the throwers
It is NOT a scientific proven fact that buttery layers increase throwing strength but it can’t do any harm can it!
Dawn Juson from very kindly included us in their blog this month. Link is in the bio if you fancy having a read. Bwd food alliance promote access to good food for all, great to speak to them and thanks again much appreciated 👍
At the Higham Scarecrow festival if you fancy some bread, pastries, cinnamon rolls and Turkish scones
Cheers
Hello! Bit of a boring and long post but…As you may or may not have noticed am trying some new things in addition to the bread.
This is important for a few reasons but namely:
-Most of the bread is wholesale and is sold outside Burnley.
-Would love to sell more in Burnley and surroundings itself. Additionally a retail element is important for us to develop, being blunt about it, in order make sure the business can carry on.
Unfortunately up till now have had a very low volume of sales in Burnley.
We do have a wonderful customer/s and who order pretty much every week and here is what they think.
So if you are a little bit hesitant about ordering maybe the comments will help.
Appreciate we don’t have a shop (still searching) and it doesn’t help if you can’t see the product in person. But I do over 250 wholesale loaves per week and mostly get sold out ask .
And although haven’t been doing the pastries, desserts, curries etc as long. Hopefully the reviews will be testament that they are worth a try.
You can order by deliveroo (none bread) or by contacting directly. Am a food registered business and have a 5 star hygiene rating (you can’t get on deliveroo if you aren’t). Mentioning it in case that is the cause of any hesitation.
Or you may not just like it 😀. But always try to use good quality ingredients and although very time consuming make it in a way which will make it flavoursome. The curries are quite different (better/worse you decide) than what you’ll get from a takeaway in my opinion. Everything for the desserts is made in house and the pastries use lovely cultured butter from
Will try to make the process a bit better so it’s clearer what’s being made and when. If there is anything else you may want to suggest feel free to do so.
Anyway hope you give it a try 👍
Cheers
You can find us on deliveroo now, If you type in Burnley for location then search for Zafroz Bakery. Open today, then Friday through to Wed. Menu differs slightly each day.
Today have:
-Aubergine curry and daal with bread
-Hand laminated croissants filled with a tomato, pepper omelette
-Croissant Pudding
-Plain Turkish Scones
Open till 10pm ish.
Give it a try if you fancy, cheers
Pain aux raisin using and today at pop on down if you fancy it
Open on deliveroo today, starting off with croissants and Turkish scones, hopefully have some brownies later and more savouries after 6pm.
If you fancy giving us a try head over to deliveroo and search for Zafroz Bakery.
Cheers

Yeasted focaccia, took an eternity to prove but worth it in the end.

A few more posts incoming today.
There is a saying ‘Paradise lies beneath the feet of your Mother’. Actually It’s more than a saying but nonetheless it’s a beautiful and very meaningful set of words. Very sadly no longer have that honour now. An amazing woman who although blessed with much also had more than her fair share of tragedy, including perhaps the biggest a parent can face. She faced that test like the others with a grace and fortitude that I can’t even begin to describe. Never even a utterance of complaint. Wish she did but that was her way. Always thankful for what she had and despite many physical disabilities, always putting others before herself.
Something special about a Mother. No matter how far or near that presence is enough. If you to still have that privilege, cherish it. Inevitability and sadly it will end and that’s a void that can never be filled.
The bakery bears her (and my late fathers) name. To them always and forever thankful.
Morning! Bread as usual but have included the old today! (all the bread apart from the wholemeal) Most will know about them some will not.
In the interests of transparency, use regenerative farming techniques and absolutely no pesticides, herbicides or fungicides (swipe left for more info). Although not certified as organic it’s very ethical/healthy indeed.
Also all the flour is still stoneground though it’s not all UK as Stoates use some of Canada I think and use a bit of the French.
Anyway if you need to know more you can visit and if you google Cann Mills you’ll find out about Stoates flour.
If I have made an error feel free to correct.
Cheers
A sad post indeed and one of only 2 serious posts I’ll do on here (the other one will be in the same vein sadly) but nonetheless…soon to start desserts delivering in and around the Burnley area. Naming it after a very dear family friend who passed away suddenly late last year. A terrific young lad. Incredibly respectful, immensely funny but never at anyones expense and a real achiever in life. Sadly the older you get the more sad events you encounter. Not much can be done, but you do what you can. No compensation but perhaps a little consolation. So in his memory will donate 5% of Saturday dessert sales (guessing this will be the busiest day). And pledge to do it for a year.
Hopefully starting Friday 17th. Initially desserts will be delivered Fri,Sat and Sun. Anywhere in Burnley and Pendle. More details to follow.
Website looks a little different now but hopefully will still be clear where you can order the bread from on the website. If not just give us a bell.
Cheers
Sourdough never ceases to amaze! These ciabatta type things had only 2.5% levain! Bulked ambient for a whopping 21 hours at around 20-23c. Then a short bench rest. Used T55. Came out my nice and fluffy. Cut straight out of the oven. Didn’t think it would do anything to be honest. But there you go 😀 interesting (at least to me 😂)
The first quartet of the year and it’s still bloody raining! Hope you have a great weekend, get your wellies out!
Just a reminder you can order bread for home delivery (Burnley and surrounding areas) Saturday from the website www.zafrozbakery.co.uk
Or purchase from the following
-Ramsbottom
-Clitheroe
-Darwen
And that’s that for a few days. Hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and cheers for the orders!
Come on Eileen!
The quartet and a inflationary bubble (is there any other kind?)…..sick of the word inflationary? Me too.
Have a good weekend!
Morning, not a bad start to the week but how will it end?
Will I carry on the week saying nothing, end up being slayed by a highly trained assassin (with a seriously sad back story) without letting you know why I was trying to make everyone a zombie and then rushing the end and totally ruining the last 10 years of work (in my case 2 or 3 not sure). Will I prove to everyone I really don’t know anything?
I’m not going anywhere near it …… will never forgive will never forget 😀.
Hope you have a great week!
Long live is a numpty
Evening! website has been slightly updated with more recent photos and ingredient info.
Additionally and probably most important, due to the current cost environment we’ve had to add to the inflationary basket and increase our prices too (wholesale prices went up a while ago)
There is also now a delivery charge of £2 for home orders under £10.
Not something particularly wanted to do but unfortunately necessary. Sos.
Also….we DONT have a shop despite what Uncle Google says. Don’t actually know how it got on there. For some Orwellian reason unbeknown to me Google won’t actually remove the address despite it having nothing to do with the bakery. Such is life. If we ever get a shop will let you know
Cheers 👍
Morning!, the quartet and scenery. Made in Costa Del Burnley, mostly consumed in Gran Ramsbottom/Bury, Clitheroe Ventura, Darwenia, Todmordente and Hebden Bridgerote
