Samuel offers a wide range of skills and services as a maker and repairer of stringed instruments. Samuel started working on stringed instruments in 2002.
From minor repair work and adjustments to extensive restorations, he has a wealth of experience and specialises in lower strings. He was employed on Saturdays and during school holidays by his local music shop (Thwaites Fine Stringed Instruments). Two Northern power houses in the workshop this week. One is attributed to James Cole 1824-1891, the other attributed to James Briggs 1855-1935.

Busy week last week despite being about a million degrees in the workshop.....
1&2.New fingerboard, top nut and bridge with a piece of wood prepared for the fitting a C extension
3. Front glued on a nice little Northern English bass after repairing some rib cracks.
4. Finishing up repairing cracks and fitting repair studs in a German bass. Almost ready to put back together.
5. Finally finished what feels like my life's work. A huge repair job on a French bass..... More on that laterπ
