And here it is! It’s been such an honour working with Sri K Pattabhi Jois’ eldest son Manju Jois . Listening to his stories of practicing Yoga as a child. I’ve learnt loads and been honoured to have been able to take the opportunity to be able to be taught Yoga Therapy Training with him. Time to relax now, starting with a trip to the baths with some grandchildren therapy… erm 🤔 probably not a relax is it but good fun at least ! I ve missed them this week! 🤿

The Yoga Therapy with Manju Jois is drawing to an end, there’s been a lot of teaching , reflection, practice learning, meeting new like minded people in a fabulous studio and the most profound week I’ve had thus far in terms of introspection. I ve had the best self practice I’ve had in a very long time! Why , because everything has finally come together from the last 2 years of continuous study with the best teachers and finally with Manju is where all the study has come together and I found my breath ! I am honoured to be able to have the opportunity to take Teacher Training with Manju Jois.

The Yoga tradition of India was studied Sri K Pattabhi Jois (Guruji) who spent decades under the tutelage of Krishnamacharya and he developed the practice of Mysore which, created a foundation for the practice of yoga to be preserved in the tradition way.
Manju has also dedicated his life to the teaching of yoga and has been working together with his daughter Sathu to maintain the tradition so future generations will continue with the practice to preserve your knowledge and the benefits of the 8 limbs. These are difficult postures and there are many variations depending on the level of ability, mobility and practice. Beginners will have many variations of these posture . These are deep twists and are I would say more intermediate as opposed to beginners.

With that said , maintaining health and vitality of our spine important and take the variations that work for you.
It’s so important that we mobilize our spine in various Plains of movement so we are able to maintain mobility and flexibility as our spine helps us flex forward, bend backwards, rotate, left, and right and side bend.

Socrates said ‘If you would seek health, look first to the spine’.

After backbends , it’s a good time in our practice to time to take some spine rotations/twists. Always listen to you body and be aware of the breathing. The breath must stay calm and nothing should be forced . These asanas can be difficult get into and takes alot of practice. This is yoga, practice mindfully and without force. Remember pay particular attention to the breath and Breathing .


These two asanas have the same benefits which are:-

Stretches the intercostal muscles ✅
Open the chest ✅
Cleanses the heart and the heart center ✅
cleanses they liver and spleen ✅
Stretches areas like wrists , knees, and ankles .✅

I watched Wimbledon and I watched some of the England V Switzerland. I noticed the Swiss supporters chanting and I saw how this changed the energy, the positivity of the crowd raised the players game as up to this point , I thought England had most of the control, just an observation, don’t waste your energy trying to explain to me your point of view though cos it s just a point I m trying to make about how energy, sound frequencies and collective consciousness can change energy frequencies to higher levels of positivity. Eeek sorry. In the pen shoot out the player never looked at the ball, his focus, his energy that ball was going no where else other than the back of the net!
I’m not saying they all practice yoga, I m saying how grounded, how positive ever single player on that pitch were . They all believed in themselves, their team and each other. They were all grateful and gave thanks. Reminded me give thanks and find the good in everything even when things are really difficult, look for something just something that is positive to change your energy to become more grounded and at ease . Thank you to my lovely friend Yvette for hosting these two amazing Senior Ashtanga Yoga Teachers, Scott Johnson and Petri Räisänen.

Scott and Petri are remarkable teachers who delivered together such a wonderful weekend of mindful and therapeutic approaches to Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga.

These last few months in particular, for me have been intense. I know my own Continuing Professional Development🧘‍♀️ has taken me away from studio 🕉️ both last year (one weekend a month ) with Matt and Donna , and more so this year, so thank you for your support and understanding 🙏

There will is a new time table coming online shortly where there will be some additional classes where I can share my wonderful teaching with you. (Including sound Healing)
My Continuing Professional Development with the above people plus Jonny Scott and Adam Keen to name but a few, has been enriching and has allowed me the opportunity to work in person with some of the best teachers in the Yoga Community and I’m grateful for the time with my them which has allowed me to deepening my own personal practice of ‘Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga’ and with an enthusiasm and passion for the practice of Yoga, I will be sharing what I learn with you, to assist and help you in your own personal Practice with me. My ‘Thank you Jonny’ for the CPD Course last week…You all know what CPD is right? WRONG not CPD with the one and only Jonny Scott it’s not ! It’s means Continuing Personal Dream! Don’t be mistaken though, Jonny is also an Architect and his creativity is mind blowing, his energy is 100% participation and I embraced every single moment of your teachings. Missed my Mysore early morning practice with with Yvette (), knocking on my door to make sure I m up and ready. 🤪
It’s such a commitment, but it’s the commitment to yourself, it’s about prioritising your own health and wellbeing so you can help others to do the same.
I’m back in the Studio today, and I’m so grateful for such a wonderful space where I can teach what I learn from my amazing teachers. I am so grateful to each and everyone of them.
Thank you doesn’t seem to say enough but many thanks for your ongoing support and teachings. To my students, thank you for practising with me, it certainly is a two-way process, I learn so much from you all. Different ways of how to approach different bodies, areas of tightness, flexibility, strength and areas to work towards different goals . There isn’t a “one fits all’ approach. Each person is individual and have different needs . That’s why I like to keep my classes small, so I can focus my attention on you! and help you work with what you being. Coming to the mat is enough, but coming to practice with teachers you trust is even better . Namaste🕉️ .

Last week I spent time with with Adam and was reminded of the importance of the breath whilst in the Asana (postures)
The Yoga Sutras refer to the 8 limbs of Yoga and just three sutras are dedicated to asanas. Yoga is a preparatory process so that the body can sustain higher levels of energy. The process begins with the body, then the breath, the mind, and the inner self. That’s the practice, that’s the lesson I needed reminding of not the arm balances which are ‘advanced’ the advanced practice is understanding the importance of the breath .

CYMATICS = the Science of Sound made visible.
The video attached here shows the effect sound has on matter which gives validity to everything we perceive as matter, including our bodies, are effected by sound waves. Our bodies have their own unique vibrational frequency , so when we begin to understand this and we can see the science behind Cymatics, we begin to understand the power of sound that sound. Just to say I am now qualified in sound therapy, able to teach groups and on a 1:1 basis. So, I wanted to say a massive thank you to all you beautiful women who joined me today for my first ever sound bath. Your energy was truly amazing and it’s because of that the sound bath was such a wonderful experience to bring to you.
After the session we had some fruit teas and coffee (haha Joanne👀) I got some amazing feedback but what was even more amazing was it turned into a women’s circle! 🤖Wow, aren’t we a force to be reckoned with⚡️! 🧐fabulous thanks again to everyone who came. I hope you enjoyed it as much as me! Hahaha.
Next sound bath will be available for booking on the system by Monday and will be Saturday 20 April 2-4 pm at an introductory cost of £12 . There will be light refreshments, teas an espresso! Haha 🤣

Do you need just a little motivation and willpower to move this morning ? You’ll know you’ll feel better if you join me for a beautiful 10 am class. Foundational postures , Ashtanga style . This class will begin with some meditation and pranayama breath work and we will ease into some foundational postures. It doesn’t matter how flexible/ inflexible what shape, size or gender your welcome to come along and meet ‘yourself’ with care and compassion as you move your body with your breath and see how it feels. More sound healing ! My Chakra crystle sound bowls have just arrived to add to my ever growing collection of sound healing instruments and I can’t wait to use them!
Last night after our Yin and sound healing class , I was asked a little more about it.
Sound is a vibration frequency that travels as a wave into our ear and our bodies. When it enters the ear, the sounds effect the nervous system, heart rate and the respiratory system. Most of you love to listen music when you are training for your cardio sessions to keep you motivated and when you come to some of my more relaxed classes, you’ll notice I don’t play the same music cos I want a more relaxed state of being so, I won’t be playing the same music as the guys downstairs to help you relax!!

When sound enters our bodies, it also enters at a cellular level. We are all vibratory beings, everything is a state of vibration. As far as the human body is concerned we are made up of around 70% water, and, many studies have been done regarding the effect that sound can have on our bodies .
The study of Cymantics or the spontaneous geometrical patterns produced by sound when it encounters water, on a particular matter like surface coined by Hans Jenny, in 1967 where he documented the patterns that appear when putting sand or fluid on a metal plate that was connected to a sonic frequency oscillator. The work of
John Stuart Reid and Jonathan Goldman studies are fascinating in terms of scientific research, as a are Masaru Emotos water experiments (give them a search on you tube)

My new Sound Therapy classes will be shortly on our time tables but if you would like to experience a taste of how it works my Friday evening 6pm Yin with a short Sound therapy towards the end of the session will give you a taster as well as allowing you to fully ease into the weekend relaxed and replenished .

The best Valentine gift you can give is self love. Knowing yourself, accepting who you are and knowing that’s enough. Learning to love yourself, be as kind to you as you are to others , listening to your body in a nourishing compassionate loving manner so you can love others .

Here, I am working on a 1:1 with therapeutic Sound techniques to bring balance back into the body by relaxing the nervous system. Each aspect of our being , ie, our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual body has a unique rate of vibration. When any of these frequencies are out of sink, dis ease or illness occurs. Sound therapy is aims to bring our bodies back to harmonization at a deep cellular level. Why not try it for yourself .

It doesn’t take a genius to work out that stress related illnesses/conditions affect our health and well-being. Still working with integral sound. Healing is the perfect way to relax the nervous system which will calm stress related illnesses and revitalise you. It’s the time of year for some of us when we celebrate Christmas and this additional stress, not in life financially but emotionally but be related to the festive season or not sound healing can help you relax and restore your energy levels. That’s why I will be incorporating integral sound healing into my classes
