Debunking the Myths: Women and lifting weights.

With so many messages in the media about women being “toned”, “long and lean”, coupled with misconceptions about training, a lot of women shy away from lifting weights with the fear of becoming “big” and “bulky”.

Truth bomb 💣

It takes a lot of lifting, a lot of the right food and a lot of patience to build muscle.

Things to consider:

•Women typically have lower testosterone levels which make it harder to gain large amounts of muscle mass.

•Weight lifting (if your nutrition is balanced well) actually helps reduce fat, whilst increasing lean muscle.

•Everyone has a different body type and how your body reacts to weight training will be different to someone else.

•Becoming “bulky” is subjective, based on an individual interpretation or belief.

The important stuff:

•Lifting weights improves strength, bone density, metabolism and overall health.

•Lifting weights is empowering, boosts confidence and gets you to appreciate your body for what it can do, rather than how it looks.

So, ladies, don’t shy away from the weights! Embrace the empowerment and benefits of strength training. You’ll love how you feel! 💪✨

This beautiful client’s goals are to get strong, build muscle and have focus and consistency with her training and food.

We began by increasing her food intake and making sure she was hitting her macros, whilst focusing on a progressive training programme 5-6days/week.

Her consistency and focus pays off, as she’s getting stronger every month!! And the check-in videos mean that I can keep an eye on her form 💪🏽👊🏽

I work with women all over the UK via my app, and help them to look, feel and believe they’re strong, in body and mind 💪🏽

Drinking 2-3 litres of water daily is recommended to maintain hydration, support bodily functions and enhance physical and cognitive performance.

It’s a general guideline, but individual needs may vary based on activity level, climate, and personal factors.

“Don’t forget to drink more water and get some sun. You’re basically a houseplant 🪴with more complicated emotions”

This beautiful woman wanted help to create more time for herself, find work-life balance and learn how to navigate peri-menopause in the best way for her.

She’s amazing!!

She’s learned how to balance her plate with colour, fats and protein, and no longer feels guilty for enjoying the things she loves- like a pizza and a cider on a Friday night with her partner 💛 🍕

She’s been consistent with moving her body, whether that’s learning to lift weights at home, or hikes with her dog.

She’s started to install new habits and this now her lifestyle 💛

Working with this beautiful woman has been a joy from start to finish 💛

We’ve navigated social events, school holidays and time off for illness with patience, love and compassion.

Our focus went beyond physical changes like losing body fat and changing body composition; it evolved into a profound shift in mindset 🙏🏼

She’s found her happy balance and now can’t imagine a world where she doesn’t exercise or dedicate time to herself, as she knows how much it supports her mental wellbeing.

She has embraced lasting lifestyle practices, for herself and her family, and discovered that self-compassion far outweighs self-criticism 🫶🏼
