Very true! 😂
Designing a website for an architect involves:
- Developing a portfolio section that showcases the architect’s projects and designs.
- Creating a page that outlines the services and experience of the architect.
- Incorporating stunning visuals of the architect’s projects and designs.
- Including interactive elements, such as 3D models of the architect’s designs.
- Creating an intuitive navigation system to make it easy for visitors to find the information they are looking for.
- Including contact information and an enquiry form to make it easy for potential clients to reach out.
- Creating a blog to share the architect’s insights, thoughts and advice.
- Adding links to the architect's social media channels for the very latest news on projects they have created.
- Including a search feature to help visitors quickly find the information they need.
- Making sure the website is optimised for mobile and tablet/iPad devices.
- If they want it, training the client - or one of their team members to update the website themselves with new articles and news and of course, when they have new projects to showcase.
If you're an architect and want a new website with all of the above and more, take a look at some of the sites we have created and get in touch.

The landmark Building Safety Act received Royal Assent and became law last week. Five years in the making, the 262-page act creates a new safety regime for the construction of residential buildings.
A Building Safety Regulator will have to approve higher risk residential projects over 18m at the planning application stage and at initial building control stage. Designs for such projects will need to be submitted to the new regulator at ‘gateway’ points. The regulator will have the power to freeze projects if safety is compromised.
Architects acting as Principal Designer will be expected to be responsible for a 'golden thread' of information: effectively, to maintain an account of how the building has been designed and how design decisions were taken relating to fire and structural safety.
The Building Safety Act is now law Last week, the Building Safety Bill passed into law and became the Building Safety Act. What does it mean for architects? Find out about the new planning gateways, regulatory bodies, and changes to the Defective Premises Act.

Do you:
- Provide detailed quotations that specify the scope of the work and do you talk it through with your client to ensure that they know exactly what has been allowed for?
- Confirm that they are happy it allows for everything they require?
- Explain the processes if they require additional work or changes to the scope of the project, as well as what happens when problems occur that are out of your control (e.g. poor weather)?
- Include references/testimonials with your quotes?
Measure the success of your business regularly using KPIs (Key Performance Indicators), which enable you to judge how well your business is performing.
KPIs can be used to monitor the performance of projects and compare them, manage costs, keep track of hours, improve your team’s efficiency and more.
Some examples of KPIs you can set for a project are:
- Costs vs budget for a project
- Project progress relative to the schedule and milestones
- Number of hours spent on different aspects of the project
- Number of snagging items/defects to address
Constantly look out for possible new contacts on LinkedIn and send them connection requests. You can perform a search for people who are in industries that have the same target market as you and are in your local area(s), so that you can build relationships then recommend and refer business to each other (just like people do in face to face networking). Examples of this are an electrician connecting with a letting agent and a landscape contractor connecting with a landscape architect.
Don’t just send them a default connection request message though, customise it to make it more interesting/enticing.
