‘We feel devastated’: High street restaurant to donate all sales today after floods hit Bangladesh A town’s high street restaurant will donate all its sales today towards helping people affected by devastating floods in Bangladesh.
WE NEED YOUR HELP!
As you all know our family is from Sylhet Bangladesh and our village is suffering immensely. We are going to donate all sales from Tuesday 25th June 2024.
Villagers in the hardest-hit low-lying areas of Sylhet could be seen wading through chest-deep water and heaping their belongings into piles to protect them from the muddy waters.
There is a serious concern for those trapped by floodwaters who now face food shortages and a lack of clean water.
So if you want to order a takeaway or eat out on Tuesday, please make it a Gandhi meal 🙏🏽
We thank you in advance for supporting my family and the local people from my village.
Siraj Begg & Family.

Season’s Greetings to all our customers. We hope you all have an amazing time over the festive period.
We will be closed Christmas Day and Boxing Day and re open from Tuesday 27th December as per normal hours.
It’s Awards season for the Indian Restaurant sector and we wish all our fellow restaurateurs the best of luck if you’re attending.
We do not need awards, hopefully providing Mildenhall with over 40 years of indian food should suffice, and as many of you know we are a family run business with three generations of the Begg family involved since 1979.
Hope you all have a great weekend!
Check out this new podcast from Good Morning Suffolk . In this first Episode our restaurant is mentioned about a story from the 90’s which we actually posted last week about. Have a listen!
Good Morning Suffolk: Episode 1 Good Morning Suffolk brings you some feel-good stories every week alongside upcoming events, nostalgic stories and community features.
When local firefighters put out the wrong fire 😂 This article was from 1995 by Bury Free Press
Remembering when firefighters turned hoses on Tandoori oven In today's nostalgia we look back to 1995 when firefighters left an Indian restaurant minus its traditional cooking oven.
Thank you for your service Your Majesty. RIP Queen Elizabeth II 💔

Sharyan’s debut made the news! You can read the article below.

Indian restaurant welcomes third generation of family into the business One of East Anglia's oldest Indian restaurants, Ghandi in Mildenhall, has welcomed the third generation of their family into the business.
The legacy continues…
Say hello to Sharyan, grandson of our founder Siraj Begg and Shaz’s eldest son.
Sharyan makes his debut at Gandhi for work experience during the summer holidays.
He makes it the 3rd generation of the Begg family working at the restaurant. A very proud moment for us.
Yep! You read that right! Free Air conditioning available on Monday and Tuesday during the heatwave. Always doing our bit for the community. Book now 😎
Thank you to everyone that supported us to raise funds and help for the flooding in Bangladesh. Your support and generous donations are going to mean the world to those that need it!
We will top this up to £1000 and will be distributed from Sunday by Siraj In the village.
Once again, Thank you so much for supporting us. 🙏🏽
WE NEED YOUR HELP!
As you may have seen on the news and media, Sylhet has been hit by heavy floods in Bangladesh. People have lost their homes, livestock, supplies and many other things. There is no electricity or drinking water. Things we take for granted.
Sylhet is the county where we are from. And our village has been hit badly. We have already opened our homes to those badly affected but there is so much to do and rebuild.
For this reason we have decided to donate all our takings this Wednesday 22nd June 2022.
The money will go directly to these people to help them get food and rebuild their homes. Siraj Begg (owner) is currently there and will be distributed by our owner and other family members.
So all you have to do is order a meal and if you don’t fancy any food and wish to donate then you can purchase a gift voucher to an amount of your choosing from the link below.

Happy Father’s Day!
Here is our founder Siraj Begg with his Son Shaz and grandson Sharyan (middle) who came to Mildenhall in 1979 to open Gandhi.
The father and son combination helped Gandhi become a pivotal part of Mildenhall’s history, not only is it the oldest curry house in East Anglia still operating under the same family it is also an integral part of the towns community.
We hope you all have an amazing day with your dad’s whatever you are doing. Past or present they are always with you 🫶
