🧠 My Happy Mind is a program taught in every year group at school-here’s some information to tell you a bit more about it.

☀️ Don’t forget that school closes at 2.30pm on Friday 19th July for the summer holidays ☀️

🧶 Did you know we run a crochet club for the Year 6 children at Woodbank? Just look at what the children have been working hard to create this term-aren’t they amazing? 🧶

As part of our RE topic on different places of worship for different religions, our KS1 children visited a church in our local area, All Saints Church. We had a fantastic morning learning about the features of a church and received such a warm welcome. We are hoping to visit places of worship for other religions over the next academic year, as we learn about lots of different religions and their beliefs.

📢 If you are a resident of Elton, Brandlesholme, or surrounds, you are warmly invited to join the next local Police and Communities Together meeting.

The meeting will be held at 6PM on Thursday the 18th of July 2024 at Bury Croquet Club, Ainsworth Road, Bury, BL8 2PY. Come along to hear about some of the recent work of the neighbourhood policing team and get the opportunity to raise any questions. 📢

⛑️ All our Year 3 children took part in First Aid Training on Tuesday morning. They had such a great session and all received a certificate ⛑️

📢 As it gets closer to the end of term, there are lots of things happening for our wonderful Year 6 leavers next week:

⭐️ Tuesday 16th July: Year 6 Community Leaver’s Service at All Saints Church 1.30pm.
⭐️ Wednesday 17th July: Year 6 Leaver’s Prom! Children to arrive back at school at 4.45pm and parents can return for the end of the prom at 7.45pm
⭐️ Year 6 Leaver’s Assembly: Friday 19th July 9.30am

All the staff and children at Woodbank would like to take this opportunity to wish the very best for each and every one of our Year 6’s as they move onto their high schools in September-good luck! ✨⭐️🌟💫

Is your child in Year 6 and moving onto High School in September? These drop in sessions are being offered during the summer holidays-a great opportunity to have any questions answered.

Have you got a child starting reception in September? Check out the school starter sessions at Imagination Bay Adventure Play- the next one for Woodbank Is Tuesday 9th July. A great opportunity for new children and parents to meet.

📚 Another fab day today as part of our Book Week- we have had children’s author, Fay Evans in school. After a super assembly this morning, she has visited all the Early Years and KS1 classes, sharing her stories. The children have loved it! 📚

📚 Don’t forget tomorrow is Bedtime Story Day-children can come to school in their PJs (or relaxing loungewear) and bring in their favourite bedtime story (plus teddy) to read.

📚 The Scholastic Book Fair will be available for one last day to make any final purchases-thank you so much to everyone who has already made a purchase. We will be able to purchase some lovely new books for our school libraries with the commission raised-so thank you!

📚 We are having a fantastic Book Week! KS2 enjoyed a visit from author Stephen Waterhouse on Monday. He shared his amazing illustrations and ran workshops with all the KS2 classes. KS1 will be having a visit from author Fay Evans on Thursday.

📚 Don’t forget the Scholastic Book Fair is open after school everyday in the hall. Each class will have an opportunity to visit the fair and browse the books during the week.
📚 Has your child entered the competitions to be in with the chance of winning a book voucher?
📚 We can’t wait for Bedtime Story Day on Friday! Children can come dressed in their PJs and bring their favourite teddy and book to read.

☀️ Check out this fantastic community event taking place on Saturday 31st August in Purbeck Park, Brandlesholme. 11am-pm. A great way to fill a day in the summer holidays and be part of a local community event. Get it on your calendar! ☀️

📚 Book Week next week! 📚
We are so excited for Book Week next week-we have so many exciting things planned. Please see the attached letter with a timetable for the week. Some of the exciting things we have planned include:

📚 Authors in school on Monday and Thursday
📚 Scholastic Book Fair in the hall every day after school until 4pm
📚Bedtime Story Day on Friday-children can come dressed in their PJs or comfy clothes

Please send money in a sealed and labelled envelope if you would like your child to purchase a book from the book fair during the school day.

🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️🥇What a fantastic sports day we had yesterday! The sun shone all day 🌞 and the children had so much fun participating in all the races. Thank you to all the parents and carers who came to cheer them on-the children loved having you all there. Well done to Oak house, who were the overall winners of the day with the most points 🥇🏆

☀️Don’t forget it’s our annual Woodbank Summer Fair this Sunday 23rd June 1-4pm, organised by our fantastic PTA. Come along and support this event-there will be so much going on and it always such a fun-filled day. Here’s hoping the weather will be kind to us!☀️

This Thursday 20th June!
🌞 The weather forecast looks good-here’s hoping it stays that way! 🌞
All EYFS/KS1 (including Nursery race) 10am start
All KS2 children (including Nursery race) 1.20pm start

Parents/carers/families will be able to arrive 20 minutes before start times, entering via the cricket club end gate. Children need to come to school in sports clothing and a t-shirt in their house colours. Please send sun hats and apply sun-cream before coming to school. Children will have access to water in their school water bottles throughout the day.

Please refer to the sports day letter sent via the Parent Hub app for further information.

🌞 Our annual Summer Fair organised by the Woodbank Primary School PTA is quickly approaching! Come along and support this event-it is always such a great day! 🌞

Today we received some beautiful books from Bury Lions Club which will help spread the message on Environmental issues in our Eco club and beyond. Mrs Javed was thrilled to accept these today.

☀️ Wishing all our all our children and families a safe and restful half term. We return to school on Monday 3rd June. Happy half term! 🎉

A group of our Year 5 and 6 children are off on their PGL trip this weekend and are sure to have the most amazing time! We can’t wait to hear all about their trip. Don’t forget to bring your child’s luggage to school on Thursday from 3.30pm-5.30pm or Friday morning from 7.30am. Coaches are due to leave around 9.15am if you want to wave them off!

Our Nursery children had a wonderful trip to Smithills Open Farm on Tuesday this week. The sun was shining ☀️ and a fabulous day was had by all 🐴🐄🐖🐔🦙
