Part 5 - 10% task force solutions - Recover heat

95% of the power used to generate compressed air is converted to heat and can be lost to atmosphere unless recovered and reused. UAP can design and install bespoke heat recovery systems to suit a wide range of applications. This includes hot water processes and can provide hot water solutions of up to 75°C. This can be used for central heating, hot water, pre-feeding of boilers, wash stations etc, all of which can contribute to a reduction in energy usage and your carbon footprint. Fixing compressed air leaks is the single most important energy saving measure that can be performed. Although it is not practical to achieve a 0% leak rate, BCAS advise that a well-managed system should maintain a leak rate of >10%. Project summary

United Air Power have recently completed the installation and commissioning of a new Nitrogen Generation System at a UK Waste Recycling Plant to replace a Prism & liquid nitrogen process.

UAP’s was awarded the Design and Build project, to provide 98% purity Nitrogen, through Air Separation, at a flow rate of ≤147 Nm3/hr, 7.0 BarG. Providing the customer with a safe inert gas blanket around solvents, held in Storage Tanks and Distillation Towers.

The system was built with minimum distribution to fit into an existing area within the plant and designed modular for future expansion. UAP’s Turnkey project also included the installation of >150 metres of stainless-steel distribution pipework, undertaken (inhouse) by the UAP team.
