Prestwich project complete ππ±
Now the rendering work has been completed on the new planter wall, we can finalise the garden makeover by adding the new bespoke wooden seating and plant up the wall, creating a private seating area for socialising.
We have also added a bike store with a sedum roof, to create extra greenery and habitat for insects and bees alike.
There is no space too small or too much of a strange shape for us!

Onto our next big project!
Here we are in Prestwich, breaking ground on our new garden renovation project. We have a fantastic and quirky design for this small space, making as much use of the area as possible.
Firstly, we are ripping out the rotten decking, and digging out footings for a new wall to be built.
Stay tuned to see how we progress. π±
Can you guess the design features of this garden?
New front garden alert! We have just completed a quick front garden job, turning the mossy grass into a more maintenance easy gravel garden!
We have done several gravel gardens in our ongoing portfolio. These are great for the desired maintenance low, but also environmentally friendly gardens. Adding plants and flowers between provides colour amongst the gravel and also crucial pollen and food for insects and bees π± and is a great option instead of artificial grass.
We would love to see pictures of your gravel gardens! Send them below! πΈ
It is a very wet day, which means we can't do the work as planned for today! Instead it offers the perfect time to take a look at some inspirational design books, there is no limit to what can be learnt in complex garden design βοΈππ±
Part 2 on we how built the previous posts garden!
DAY 4 - 6:
We can now begin installing the fossil mint Indian sandstone. With the aco drains now in place around the edge of the house to collect water. We can start to lay the flags on a full bed of mortar, with cement primer for extra strength. We also lay these flags in a staggered pattern for uniqueness!
DAY 7: With the flags now in place. We can look at building the new sleeper wall, in front of the concrete blocks. Additionally we added a DPM membrane behind the sleepers so over time, the chance of rotting is significantly slower. We can then also add the new top soil for the plants later on.
DAY 8:
Today we will focus on that bespoke pergola in the corner!
First we will install the deck boards for the floor and then add the battens on each side of the fence. This hides the slope of the fence, creates more privacy and also is more aesthetically pleasing!
DAY 9 - 10:
We can now begin to clean up the site, by pressure washing the flags and grout them. Add the new black-ice gravel, and plant up the raised bed along the fence. Before moving the outside furniture back into place. We will finalise the job by checking the drainage works, looking for any possible 'snags' and make sure the customer is totally happy with the final result!
To see the final result, take a look at our previous posts!
We are now also taking bookings for next year! Get in touch for your garden makeover π±π
Step by step, this is how we built the previous posts garden! (Part 1)
DAY 1:
-Like with every first day on site, getting our tools and a skip to the address is the key step to unlock a garden rejuvenation project!
-We can then start logistically removing and excavating the current garden and its materials to make way for the new design.
-On this project, we first removed the old sandstone paving, which was loose due to inappropriate installation. We can then remove the existing sleepers and dated golden gravel!
-Once dug down to the desired depth in the garden, we can mark out the design and add a new stone substrate sub-base for the new paving.
DAY 2:
-As per the design to create more room in the garden, we dug back the 'retaining sleeper bed' around 1 metres for extra space. We will then add concrete footings, as we will be building a block wall to retain the existing soil. As this holds back the fence and neighbours garden, just adding new wooden sleepers would cause them to move out of place within several years. We will add wooden sleepers to the front of the wall later on in the process!
DAY 3:
-Its a Saturday now, but that doesn't stop us! Today we will build the block wall, while at the same time begin the construction of the bespoke pergola and decking. Since this garden slopes down dramatically towards the back corner, we incorporated a decking area, so the garden can remain level throughout, without the need for major earthworks.
Stay tuned to see how we did on day 4 and onwards! π±
Before we show you our next big project we have just finished, here are some final pictures of the previous project! Here you can see the lights, plant pots and that stunning pergola in all its glory!
Perfect to enjoy for the rest of summer βοΈ
Old River π±
Final result of our big garden rejuvenation project! π
A new green lawn always enhances the look of a brand new garden. (Even with the stripes!) We have also added white pebbles of the customers choosing, which look fabulous for the steppings stones and borders.
Time to get the furniture and plant pots out for the rest of summer βοΈ
What do you think?! π±
Progress on our big garden rejuvenation project! π±πΈ
As you can see, the Honey Limestone Sandstone flags are down, along with the construction of the bespoke pergola in the corner, with Black Limestone paving for contrast. We have also added new land drainage, aco drainage and smooth lighting to go around the fence.
We can't wait to showcase the final result π
We have begun our biggest project yet! This super exciting design will include a bespoke raised pergola in one corner, with renewed paving, stepping stones, lighting and more! Keep your eyes peeled to stay on track with the progress β¨οΈ
So far, the existing boggy and sloping lawn has been dug out and those aged concrete flags removed. Now its time to start putting the design into place!
+ Better access +Easy to maintain +And looks much much better!
This customer wanted to provide better access to their decking, without walking on an often wet and soggy lawn. The addition of an Indian Stone path blends in with the now much more tidy raised bed.
Let us know what you think! ππ±
Remember our November project last year? Well here it is in July 2024!
The plants have now established to create a beautiful collection of foliage and flowers, all tied together with the central water rhyl.
We can't wait to see this garden progress into the future π
Remember when we said we would return to this job to plant it up?
Well here we are!
A fantastic range of perennial flowers and shrubs, blends in with the special clover turf superbly!βοΈ π±
A much more traditional English garden for the customer to enjoy.
A quick and quaint job this one π±
This customer wanted to create a new seating area to replace the former pond, so we did just that, re-using existing materials where possible β¨οΈ
A bit (or big) change of this garden, compared to the previous post!
As you can see, we have made different terraces, ideal for planting and much more user friendly than a big slope.
We will return here in a few weeks to add some special clover-turf and native planting! We cant wait to see it all planted up! π±
The sun has made an appearance! Which is needed as a new front garden project breaks the ground! This is going to be a more traditional garden to the previous project in our last post, with dry stone walling, to create four different terraces. Keep tuned to see the progress we made! ππ±βοΈ
β¨οΈThe finished result on our front garden rejuvenation project! The customer is over the moon with this one! A much more modern, clean look to the front of the house. Boosting the kerb appeal!
Check out our last post for the before pictures! π±
A new week, a new job! We are giving this tired front garden, a much needed makeover! The kurb appeal of this property will soon be much improved! π±βοΈ
A recent wild flower turf installation! The customer previously attempted wild flower seeds, however, very little results appeared! Often the ground can be unsuitable to add seeds, especially when grass and moss are a big factor, so the option was to remove the top layer of soil, add some new top soil, and this very lush meadowmat turf! We are super exited to see the pollinator friendly flowers bloom soon! π±πΎπ·
Another job currently in progress! This time, we have already added new Gharda Indian Stone paving leading to a soon to be, shed! We are yet to paint the fence and add new plants to create a stunning border! π±
Its our 1st birthday! And what an absolutely fantastic first year of business it has been! From planting up flower beds to completely redesigning gardens, we couldn't of done it without our fantastic customers! A very big thank you for your continued support, and we cant wait to see what the next year brings along! (We already have some huge projects lined up!)
Old River Natural Garden Services π±
And here is the completed project! The final touches included adding a gravel garden in the middle, a great alternative to artificial grass, for a low maintenance garden. Which also provides the greenery π±
It was a pleasure to work on this garden! And the customer is over the moon too!
Before we show you the final result of our big job! Here it is a few days ago, as the Honey Limestone indian flagstones start to go down!
Can you guess what will be going in the middle?
Stay tuned to find out!
We have begun another new big job! With most new build houses, the garden can lack any real, usability. So we are here to turn that around! We have a design and a plan, and cant wait to see this garden completed soon! ππ±
