We are very pleased to announce that registration for our Level 3 Forest School Leader Training is NOW OPEN!!

Starting on the 28th October 2024 in Greater Manchester, for 8 days.

If you are thinking of setting up a Forest School, either on your own or within a school setting and/or if you’ve completed your Level 2 Assist Forest School qualification and are looking to progress, then please get in touch on 07473 239 691. Here at Canopy, as the holidays come to a close and the new school year starts, we’ve been reflecting on our own Summer experiences. Back in August whilst on a family kayaking trip we learnt about ‘Dulse’, a red seaweed that grows in the Atlantic and was a vital source of minerals, vitamins, protein and fibre for coastal communities in years gone by often drunk with mead, hence why its referred to as Vikings beer snack! Had a taste…think I’ll stick to crisps! 😊

As we enter September we look forward to lots of exciting things happening this month….watch this space for more info!

I am running a Forest School Leader Level 3 Course in partnership with The Branches starting on the 22nd July 2024. The course runs over 8 days (Split) and covers the following:

- Supporting learning, play & development in the natural environment.
- Delivering Forest School.
- Observation & Evaluation of Forest School.
- Sustainable use & management of a natural resource
- Teach outdoor practical skills.

From 8th June it's the Great Big Green Week? A whole week focused on how we can take action to protect our planet? At Canopy we are thinking about what small swaps we could put in place that make the biggest difference.

Hi Everyone,

My name is Garry, and I am the owner of Canopy Outdoor Learning & Training. I've spent over 20 years training students in a whole range of subjects, but for the last 9 years, I've worked in outdoor education delivering Forest School and holiday club programmes in the North West of England. During this time, I've also been fortunate enough to merge my experience and knowledge as an educator with my love of all things outdoors in order to deliver Forest School Practitioner training (All levels) to others with the same passions. I recently made the decision to branch out (pun intended 😉) and set up on my own. Alongside training people to be Forest School Leaders, I also deliver First Aid Training (including Outdoor First Aid); I’m a qualified Bear Grylls Survival Instructor and support colleagues from other settings (freelance) to deliver sessional work, e.g. bushcraft skills, wellbeing walks etc. I am extremely excited about this new venture and look forward to the journey ahead…hope to see you along the way!
