We know it sounds cliched, but we do love what we do. Our lives become even more enjoyable when everything goes according to plan (which, thankfully, it does most of the time). It is particularly gratifying when our clients are compelled to bring us treats by way of a thanks. It makes us feel like teachers on the last day of term.

📸 Marketing - simply taking nice photos and placing your property on Rightmove isn’t going to cut it. Grantchester 🏡
It’s easy enough to take Grantchester for granted, but it really is a very special place. It’s one of most lovely villages to visit, but it’s also a beautiful place to live.
With four pubs in the village, along with the Orchard Tea rooms and Gin Distillery there is plenty of places to visit. Grantchester meadows drops down from the village to the river and is utterly enchanting, you can walk or cycle into town via Newnham and take in the breathtaking sights along the way.

Meet Jamie & Oliver, (not Jamie Oliver)
Two of our newest team members live west of Cambridge; apparently, West is Best. Dr. Dre would certainly agree. Thankfully we have people working here who live in every possible direction from Cambridge, balancing out those opinions nicely.
Back to Jamie and Oliver. Jamie is the smiley chap on the left, and he has over a decade of agency experience in and around Cambridge. He is part of the valuation team, and he is happy as a sandboy when helping clients sell their property. I thoroughly recommend you look up the origins of this saying.
Oliver, the equally happy chap to the right, has worked in agency for nearly two years. When he is not arranging or conducting viewings, he is often enjoying his second favourite pastime: kicking a synthetic 11-inch ball (thankfully no longer a pig's bladder) around a field with 21 other people or watching the same game on television while sharing the occasional encouraging comment. He is a Leicester fan so looks forward to Premier League football this coming season and hopefully many seasons to come. Fellow football fans do feel free to discuss the merits of this following, but be nice now.

Andrew completed his BA (Hons) History degree in Leicester in 2022 and now lives in the heart of Cambridge. Having moved to Cambridgeshire at the age of 11, Andrew, the second Northerner on the team, enjoys Yorkshire Tea, Yorkshire Cricket and is a keen supporter of Tottenham Hotspur, despite many of the successful premier league sides being based near Yorkshire!
During summer, Andrew plays cricket for Cambridge NCI CC and can often be found in one of the pubs on Mill Road post-game. In Winter, he stays active with walks, runs, and spending time with his family and three dogs: Charlie, Nelson, and Hugo.

With the much-improved weather (at the time of this going to press!) we have dusted off our bikes, pumped up the tyres and waxed the saddles, ready to nip around the city and avoid the notorious Cambridge traffic.
Admittedly, we are fair-weather cyclists; you wouldn’t want an agent turning up for a viewing or a valuation sopping wet from poor weather or perspiration, and our electric bike ensures we arrive as cool as a cucumber while feeling smug that some exercise has taken place.
We are lucky that Cambridge is a flat and relatively condensed city with around 80 miles of cycle lanes, enabling everyone to get around with relative ease and safety. We have always tried to impact upon our local environment as little as possible. Where we can walk to appointments, we walk. If we can't walk, we cycle. If we can't cycle, we jump into one of our three electric cars. Only in the rare event that they are all being used, do we eventually resort to the internal combustion engine.

Selling a property has always taken longer than it should, for years it would take 2-3 months from accepting an offer to completing but now this is more like 3-4 months.
If you are selling there are a number of ways to get ahead of the pack, the most effective of which is choosing and instructing a solicitor as soon as you place your property on to the market - this simple task can save you 4 weeks!
From a buying perspective it’s a similar process with regards to the legals, choose a solicitor, instruct them and have them ready to go the minute a draft contracts lands in their inbox.
