I was craving something fruity, sweet but sour at the same time, and something pleasing for my eyes too. Red and white are typically the colour of love, especially in the shape of little candy hearts. I usually grab a free copy of the Tesco's Food magazine on my way out of the store when I see them, and I usually find great recipes inside. Some became family favorites, some not so much, but when I saw this cheese cake recipe, I knew I have to make it. It didn't disappoint. It was super delicious. My daughter got her first little LOL doll last summer as a present. She already knew what they are, I've never heard of them before. A few weeks after that she got another one, and the rest is history. Fast forward this summer, we decided she will have an LOL birthday party with her friends. My oldest daughter loves cactuses for a while now. She has a few on her shelf in her bedroom, and she has other cactus print stuff around. I wasn't at all surprised when when said she would like a cactus cake this year for her birthday. Made these beauties for Lara, my daughter's friend for her 12th birthday. She asked for rose-gold cupcakes, and although I didn't find rose gold fondant or sprinkles or anything for that matter in the shops and online, I tried to achieve it by mixing pink, with metallic gold powder to tint the light pink and white fondant. These are vanilla flavour cupcakes, all were iced with vanilla butter cream, but different models contained different amount of icing. Some are hidden under the fondant icing.

This was my cake, for my birthday. I love the simple, but feminine looking cakes, touching a bit of shabby chic on the edge of whimsical notes, but quite rustic altogether. Although, this cake is white and pink on the outside, it is full chocolate on the inside. A few months ago a friend shared on her social media a recipe of pistachio cream. After I saw that, I was hooked. I translated the recipe, because it was in Italian, and I adapted to my liking and ultimately I made these pistachio cupcakes. They turned out ahhhmaaaazing! There are two kind of cakes I struggle to pick a favorite from. They are the lemon cakes and coffee cakes. Love them both equally, and any time I eat any of them I think THIS is my absolute favorite, then of course I think the same way about the other when eating it. Christmas should be white. Pronto. You may argue with me, especially if you grew up in Australia or other warm part of the World, but for so many others including myself Christmas should be snowy white. This year for Halloween we are going in circles around Oreos and apparently Jack Skellington, too. What can I say, Oreos are simply good, and Jack Skellington looks good too. Don't you think? This was my boy's choice to dress up to this year and I helped him with the make up, he looks pretty awesome, doesn't he? My boy had his birthday in August, he has waited patiently ever since for a cake. We are never home in the summer, that's why he doesn't have a home made birthday cake on his special day. My little one turned 5 and we threw her a small party at home with just a handful of her closest little friends. The weather isn't the greatest these days, but fortunately the rain missed us, so we could be inside and outside as well. We planned to have the party table inside, and the craft station outside. Lemon is one of my most favorite flavor in a cake, so I was very excited to make this, but then this wasn't my cake to eat, but my friend's Karen. I searched for a good lemon curd recipe, and the one I eventually made was truly up to my expectations. My oldest daughter turned 11 and although we established last year that she will not have a birthday party this year, somehow we ended up inviting her 4 closest friends for a sleepover party. I knew that a sleepover involves more han just a birthday party, and the girls are together for an evening, night and morning, which comes with lots of noise (LOTS of it!) and mess and turning the house upside down, BUT I am so glad I said yes, because it turned out that sleepover party with THIS age girls is NOT trouble, it is actually a lot of FUN! I was thinking what name should I give to this beauty. I made it for my friend Karen who just got married, and although this wasn't her wedding cake, I wanted it to look and fit to the special occasion. I baked a simple sponge and filled it with three different chocolate ganache creams, dark, milk and white, and I covered the whole cake with white chocolate cream before I decorated it with the fondant ruffles. Happy Easter to you all! Here I bring you mini heart shaped rainbow cheesecakes, which may not have all the colors of the rainbow, but this didn't stop my kids grabbing the spoon. They loved it! In terms of flavors I made it simple, all layers were plain vanilla, although I originally planned to add different flavors to different layers. Eventually I opted to leave it plain vanilla, and since it was meant for the kids, it was the perfect choice. [ 267 more words ]
