We are looking forward to the annual Mass for the feast of St John Fisher tomorrow at noon, taking place in Great St Mary’s again this year. While we can’t have our usual large choir for the occasion, a group of six singers from the Chapel Choir and Fisher House Schola Cantorum will be singing the Palestrina Missa Brevis, along with Charles Wood’s rousing “O Thou the Central Orb”. There are still plenty of places left, so please do sign up to attend at the link below!

The Chapel Choir of Fisher House, Cambridge
The Cambridge University Catholic Chaplaincy, now popularly known as Fisher House, was founded by papal indult in 1895, when Catholics were allowed once more to read for degrees at Oxford and Cambridge. Since 1924 Fisher House, a cluster of two sixteenth century houses, has been its home. The chaplain is Monsignor Mark Langham (a priest of the Archdiocese of Westminster and former Administrator of Westminster Cathedral); the assistant chaplains are Sister Ann Swailes, OP and Father Chase Pepper.
Fisher House provides a rich and loving community for Catholic students at the University, and for many others too. Each Sunday there are three Sunday Masses (a said English vigil Mass, sung Latin Mass and sung English Mass), and a daily Mass. The Chapel Choir is responsible for providing music for the English Mass, and the Schola Cantorum provides music for the 9am Latin Mass.
The Choir sings varied repertoire, and their director, Chris Hamilton (Organ Scholar, Downing College), is always interested to hear from prospective members ([email protected]). The Choir rehearses from 10am each Sunday in the Library at Fisher House.
